Noticed that the headline was 'gets pie in the face', while the article states that the priest ducked and it missed him - our schools of journalism at work.
Sadly, when I looked at related stories, I came across this one:

The "pie assault" seems to have become a popular technique of "leftish" activists in recent years. All it indicates to me is a person lacking in intelligence, maturity, and courage.

seems like the leftists are now resorting to violence. I read another aticle, where the friend of this kid said it was just a hilarious way of proving a point

I don't see what point there is to make. St. Paul couldn't have made it any clearer. Catering to liberal/non-Christians over the issue is not an option, and for that we can expect persecution. Kudos to this pastor for not backing down.

Violence? We are talking about a pie in the face, not a hand grenade.
Open invitation:
Anyone - ANYONE is hereby invited to hit me with a pie at any time.
While I do understand that this is an incredibly rude thing to do I do not in any way consider it to be violent or criminal. It is a prank and nothing more - an outrageous, rude and hateful prank but still just a prank. Do we really need pie laws?

As if the government didn't have enough control over our lives... now we can't even throw pies!!

That would be relatively tame compared to what some folks did before my graduation. :P

So what is the appropriate response when someone comes charging at you with anything? I mean it could be a cream pie, and it could be full of shards of glass, or acid. Are you gonna let it hit you in the face to find out?

I remember a few years ago in Greece when a zealot tried to cut off the archbishop's beard with a scissor but the security arrived just in the nick of time.

So what is the appropriate response when someone comes charging at you with anything?Move out of the way. That is my current policy and plan of action.
I mean it could be a cream pie, and it could be full of shards of glass, or acid. Are you gonna let it hit you in the face to find out?Nope. That is why if you want to hit me you have to be sneaky about it. I invite you to try but that does not mean I am going to make it easy.
Perhaps a caveat is in order. "If you are going to hit me with a pie, it must be food grade and at room temperature. The pie pan must not weigh more than...."
sheesh....forget it.
I am not saying that the Priest was wrong for ducking - I am saying that the response of having the fellow thrown in jail is a bit much. This is not "violence" - it is a rude gesture. IF you give the priest the finger - you should expect to have to answer for it - same thing here. I just don't think it should involve a judge or a jail cell.

On another articles, the preist said as it was flying by, some of the creme was flying around, he tasted some of it and said it was banana creme.
When the police had detained this kid, the priest begged them to let go of him because he wasn't going to press charges, but the police refused.
