View Full Version : H.R. 1592: the Gospel to become hate speech in America
Artificial Intelligence
7th May 2007, 01:29 AM
Anyone following this? Seems that some in our democratically empowered government are gearing up to vote on H.R. 1592 which will make it illegal to say, think or believe that something like homosexuality is wrong or sin. To do so will lead to criminal federal incarceration. Bush is against it and has threatened to veto such a thing if it gets to him… though I fear he may do as he did with the abortion issue and throw up his hands again before any real fight begins; it’s possible.
It’s not specifically there to protect homosexuality but anything that could be considered hate speech and also includes sexual orientation such as homosexuality or any sexual orientation that is outright denounced by the bible. Basically this will lead to the government having control of our pulpits with what can and cannot be taught from the bible; the absolute end of separation of Church and State and you and I may be taken to jail for teaching the whole of God’s word especially repentance of such sins as homosexuality. In coming months, this thread may be considered hate speech here in America.
He said churches need to awaken to the dangers of having pastors, lay leaders, or even those sitting in the pews sent to jail for their biblical views. "When they [realize they] could go to jail for preaching the Word of God, they'll be concerned," he told WND. read more @ http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55392

Maybe we are destined to revisit the year 1861 again but in this case they will be freeing the homosexual slaves from the yoke of us evil Christians etc… well it certainly will divide; a virtual powder keg with the fuse lit.

I do not like where the world is headed at all...to even try and pass a bill that would hinder our religion is beyond me....also I am hyper so that makes me sound more militant I really am...I still disagree with that bill completly and I would use that bill like toilet paper if given the chance.

its political tit-for-tat:
If one group wants to unequally impose religious doctrine through government, another will try to silence them by doing the same thing.
Though few see the irony and will no doubt result in some public butthurt by the annoyingly visible 'spiritual leaders' about being victims of persecution while in the same breath labeling homosexuals the single biggest threat to thieir family and spirituality and comparing them to child molestors and zoophiles when they ask for a monogamous couple tax break.
If we kept our faith personal and lived by example without allowing ourselves to be so easily led by politicians looking for an easy target to rally a fractured base, we wouldn't be getting this backlash

I am actually more irritated about the attempt at the underlined parts. I could care less if it meant telling others about sin or moses parting the red sea. Telling me I will not be allowed to quote or believe scripture because some turd finds it mildly offensive is the same as telling a Athiest he cannot say or think or believe what he believes because I find it wrong and get angry....whatever. Stupid law that wont get passed no matter how much they gripe and moan. Freedom of speech anyone?....although I disagree with the condemning of others I really don't like this...next they will try and ban church groups or something IDK....either way it will not pass. Thinking and believing is something they cannot arrest you for...You could be thinking you wanna exterminate all jews or gay people but you cannot arrest someone on this basis unless they are actually planning to act on it. If they want to arrest me for speaking scripture than so be it. Its just the idea that riles people like me up. IDK mebe I am an idiot or something. While I disagree with homosexuality I also realize it says in the bible worry not about the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye but worry about the log in your. Meaning you deal with your sin I mine. right? God Bless!

Ahh the joys of being a civiliian :)
Personally I'll take it or leave it...we should be leading by example, not words anyway.
Its like everyother "sticky topic"... there's a fine line between hating and helping....especially when it comes to sin, If we're truly on the side of helping the sinners then this bill wont matter...you dont need to words to let people see Jesus in you...

Err lets keep this thread generally on topic, I can say quite a few things about games that contain witchcraft/occult type of content such as FF does, but this thread isn’t about that.
Anyway, you guys think this isn’t possible or no big deal? Anyone here remember Waco? How about Ruby Ridge? These are the birth pangs of the end times, as the times approach we see the same general things come in waves and growing in intensity. This isn’t just a born again Christian issue vs. homosexual in bed with Government leaders, there are many other people that will not stand for such rights to be revoked. How shall the government enforce such new laws? Hire another Jennet Reno? Or few dozen? How many freedoms must be eroded away before the Church wakes up? So many other countries have fallen to sleep and are reaping the due rewards of their slumber. This is simply an all out assault by Satan and to destroy this nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Yes Violence is against anyone is already in the laws.
Also Hate crimes against people because of perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability are Also already on the law books. All this Bill dose is add sexual orientation, gender identity to the list of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability.
Now if you want to say that ALL Hate Crimes are bad, and that they should be done away with, and that protection for people because of perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability also should be done away with, then that might be a subject we can talk about.

Not about speech.
Not about the Gospel (As reported in OP Title)
Not about Christians (Though they are covered by the law being modified)
Like I said, if you want to get rid of protections for race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability, then do it, but don't say that they ( race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability) deserve protection but sexual orientation or gender identity (Both groups that are having a National Problem) don't.

I'll simplify this.
If the existing hate laws are a good idea, then adding sexual orientation & gender identity to them is a good idea, as these groups are being attacked for that status.
If the existing hate laws are a bad idea, then don't protect any group of people, including religious, race, or disabled groups.

It doesn't matter what the intent of the legislation is anymore, what matters is how the courts and our legal system will interpret this legislation.
Since the passage of the same legislation in other countries has resulted in preachers being arrested and charged with hate crimes and our Supreme Court Justices consider how other countries view us before making some of their decisions, why do we think our court system will interpret this legislation any differently?

One of the first things Satan did is to cast doubt on God's word when he spoke to Eve.
If Satan can, he will use anything, even legislation like this to undermine The Word of God. It really isn't that far fetched, many pastors in so called "enlightened" countries have already spent time in jail because of similar laws.
Satan wants the Word destroyed, hidden, forgotten and he can't do it all at once we wouldn't stand for it, so he will attempt it a little tiny bit at a time, trying to erode it a little here and a little there.
It won't work of course, we already know the end of the story. But what does God tell us to do? Fight the good fight, spread the Gospel, sharing His word... He doesn't say "share the parts of the Gospel your allowed to share and don't worry about the rest."
So who do we owe it to, to make sure that our faith is not neutered by the courts?
We owe it to God, we owe it our children and their children. We currently have freedom of speech, but we won't have it for long if we keep letting little tiny pieces of it be chipped away.
Like it or not, nice or not, good speech or bad speech we all have the right our own thoughts, and to speak our minds.
Robbing a man is illegal regardless of how the thief feels about the victim.
Assault and battery are illegal regardless of how the assailant feels about the victim.
It just doesn't get any simpler than that and adding "hate crimes" or "hate speech" as a crime into legislation is opening up a can of warms that need not be opened.
There are already punishments for crimes regardless of who they are committed against or who what is in the sick hearts and minds of those committing them.
The whole situation is totally unnecessary and dangerous to any religion that believes that homosexuality is a sin.

Anyways PGP, I get your point, and sorry about the question of drugs.
But today, everyone on the news is making the same argument I was making with you.
"WHY?"
..and your hearing it all over!
But as far as your fight with faith_warrior. Did you see all that stuff that was in PINK (THE REMOVED TEXT) ...does that not scare you?
Thats what the other side wants. Go to a Gay forum, or a Liberal forum.
They do not hide there hate for christians, and country people. Christians and Cowboys ...LOL. They Hate them. I hear gay people always talking trash about christians. They hate us man.
I'm not saying every single one of them but a large majority does. They hate us, and want to get rid of us.
But, this is written in the Bible and its going to happen, but we dont have to act like we like what they are doing!
And we dont have to act like they dont want to take away are bibles!

Thing is the Pink (Removed Text) is just that Removed, and not part of the law.
As for why, as I stated before, the hate crime law already exist, this just adds to who is protected.
If we want to get rid of hate crimes laws, then yes that would be a good argument for another thread.
But this thread is about "Making the Gospel Hate Speech", and I'm calling the OP on it, the bill as written has no provision for making the Gospel Hate Speech, and reporting it as such is wrong.

PGP you nailed it on the head. This bill has nothing to do with the subject of this thread (H.R. 1592: the Gospel to become hate speech in America). When I read the subject I was ready to pounce but when you actually take the time to read the bill the subject of this thread is very misleading. We all should take care to understand things before we get so hot and bothered over it.

This kinda reminds me of a bit of alarming news I heard regarding a Pastor and his church having charges brought against them because of handing out gospel tracts.
Apparently...some city or county anti-litter law was put in place that bans handing out flyers and such and these gospel tracts fall into that category.
I'm sure those supporting an "anti-litter" law probably didn't consider they were restricting the sharing of the gospel...but that's how slow and steady deception progresses.
Start with this...it leads to that. Write this and it can be interpreted and twisted into that.
Praise God....the victory belongs to the Lord!
