I was reading a book from "family radio", it says that now is the times that in Mattew 24:21 says ,"For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." and we true believers need to leave the church, because it is the times in revelation 17,18 says, " I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters", the great whore is the nowadays church......so real chrisitans should gather together in other ways.
I m a bit agree, although i m a new baby christian, i get real knowledge by God Himself, not some super pastor or super church. I have been to a lot churches before , now i mainly only with a few friends, but a brother keeps urging and checking me out"Have u gone to church this sunday?"etc.
I feel v guilty because i really not sure why i just did not enjoy a lot churches here in my city. but now i read this book from "family radio", seems feel better. but i still need some advices.
Another question is, i want to read some chapters in bible which can let me know more and feel more of Holy Spirit, i disovered i was touched yesterday while i read Acts. But I need more. because i m a person with some dark things to bound me , and let me hard to understand bible for too many years.
And , how to read and understand The old Testament?
And the last confusion in head is, myself is a person with tongues and visions, but i also read a book today it says bible is the only words from God. God does not say anything by tongues again since He finished bible. Nothing can be added to the bible, only bible is the real thing , real vision and etc, so do not believe in any other tongues or visions even if it seems so fantastic. And i know there is a debate on this topic.
Sorry i write a lot today.

Hi Restore,
Family Radio does not know what God knows, and does not know if we are in Matthew 24 or end times. It is their opinion.
One must take all we hear whether in church or friends, and go to God, and read the word for ourselves.
There is no command in the bible in any way to leave a church.
If the church your friend is telling you about is a good church then you will benefit greatly from going and will grow greatly as you learn, and fellowhship with other believers.
Go to www.biblegateway.com (http://www.biblegateway.com), then choose version of bible, I use new international version, then go to keyword search and type in Holy Spirit, toggle to find exact match to the right, then chose New Testament below, and read summaries of references to the Holy Spiirt, and you can go in those summaries, whch show just portions; you then click another button to see whole chapter. Once read, you hit back a few times and will bring you out to the results again, so you can check the next one.
The Holy Spirit is also referred to as the Spirit, so while using that as a search term will get lots more hits, so up to you if you would like to do that also. Also note in results, will have page numbers of results on bottom right, so if get 5 pages, will show 12345, and you just keep going till your done..
Ok, without help it is difficult at times. With the OT just read it. When something jumps out at you, post a question, ask your friend, etc, this is what fellowship is for. However, the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.
Yet, we need help to answer questions.
Once you've read the whole bible through a few times and read much of differnt parts you will begin to understand things in the whole context of the whole bible, which is important, but comes with much time.
So, while one verse says one thing, and another seems to contradict, when taking all of scripture in context will better grasp and understand.
Can also reserch a verse, by entering keywords from that verse into biblegateway.
Never used, but hear there is topic also on biblegateway.
The bible is hard for anyone new to reading it. Just read and let God reveal things to you. And go deeper into that which He brings to you, if you feel the need to.
Many of us are from very dark pasts, so don't feel out of place in any way. I am from a very dark past.
On tongues and visions and prophecy, yes you will find some Christians who believe in such.
Not all do.
Let God lead you into all truth, and do not worry.
However if someone says to you God says thus about you; I would not believe it, because what prophecy is, is God's word, being shared with another. That's all it is. God spoke to prophets and told them what was to come, etc.
However if someone does that to you now, I would totally disregard it.
Also know that we are to edify each other and not destroy.
My personal belief is that tongues, prophesy, and such have passed, but that is my belief.
You need to read the bible and find out for yourself.
But, I have heard and read that in persectuted countries such as China, and Muslim countries that miracles occur (haven't heard about tongues yet), but can see God allowing such, for it is always about building the church. Also that God has gone to them in dreams and proclaimed himself. I believe this does occur in places where the gospel can not be preached.
On visions, I have read one had a dream or vision about a man coming to their house with a bible in a red velvet satchel in china, which is a persecuted country, and it did come to pass. So if that was a dream or vision, I don't recall. However know that God would never reveal to you things that are contrary to his word, to jesus, etc.
I would not be open to recieving prophecy, visions et al from others as i don't believe it's given as many people think it's given to them those gifts.
God can do anything at any time.
tongues are foreign languages and need interpretors. Foreign human languages.
Some further say they have a prayer language of tongues, which I don't see in the bible.
but again, that's just my opinion.
Also, note that christian Advice is a good forum for spiritual questions as is Bible study.
God bless you in your walk with God,
tapero

God will lead you restore. Just stay in touch with HIM and keep studying the Scriptures. He has given you a CHRIST, AN ANOINTING to reside within you to TEACH YOU. When He teaches you something, you'll know it in your heart.
1 John 2:27 check it out
And yes, God will CALL YOU OUT of many things. That's why he called Yeshua's Body the "CALLED-OUT" ONES. (The word translated from the Greek "ekklesia" into "church" means......CALLED-OUT.) So if you discern that He's calling you out of something.....just go. Like Abraham who left Ur, his homeland, where his dad and family lived, not knowing where he was going.....just because God told him to. God called Abraham "His friend." If you are Abraham's "child", spiritually speaking, you'll do what Abraham did, and you'll be God's friend as well. God knows those who are His.
God bless you sister and may he lead you into all the Truth.

Restore,
If we're living in a country where we are free ! Free to read the Bible, free to speak about Jesus, free to go to the Church... We must do it. Because, the Bible is completely true. So, yes, one day the Christians will be persecuted everywhere in the last time. But before that, we have to prepare us for living these hard times and to stay hanging to our God. It will be very hard. But for People who don't have training, it will be impossible. Training is beginning, to learn to love our brothers and sisters, to help them. How would we have to love them, if we don't want to live with them today, while everything is easy in our country where we are free ? Especialy, if we are a young Christian, we are in danger if we aren't attached ourself in a good church. We are like a young ewe far away of the flock. Oh yes the shepherd Jesus look at us. But if we don't make what he told in his word, He will let us with our responsabilities, and our "freedom". Please, pray to go in the church where God're waiting for you, to serve him, helping your brothers and sisters, using your talents. God lead you and bless you.

Your spiritual youth is really showing, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing. The first thing you need to do is to trash that book you are reading. It is leading you astray from the truth of God's word and hanging you up on subject matters that are not necessary for spiritual growth in God.
You need to find a Bible-believing church in your neighbourhood (if possible), and get involved. Serving others is what will make it work. Learning from those older in the faith is fantastic, yet you need to avail others of your service in some way.
The Word of God will become more and more exciting to you as you read daily. Ask your pastor what he recommends as far as daily reading. He should be more than happy to show you.
PM me if you like. I have a neat little study I give to newbies in Jesus, called, "7 Minutes with God."
God bless!

Tapero and others- Why is it that you say "Family Radio does not know" and then refer RESTORE to the worst bible translation there is.
The owners of Zandervon and publishers of NIV are known to have atheistic views.
What's sup?

The NIV doesn't deny God's existence, does it? You can't go wrong with a Bible, except maybe use it for a doorstop! :sigh:

Restore is already in possession of a bible. She needs more direction and help than what version she is using, which she never even mentioned.
I commend your concern, but bible versions is not the topic.

Hi Restore. From what you're saying, I would suggest trying out some churches that believe in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and know how to use them. One of the bigger denominations is Assembly of God, and there are many non-denominational "spirit-filled" type of churches. Visit a few until you find one that you like. I can't say I agree with the "family radio" stuff you've shared. I would suggest putting their literature on the shelf until you're stronger in the Word and can discern the truth for yourself. Bless you!!

The NIV was published in 1973, while Zondervan's parent company, Harper & Row, was acquired by News Corporation and merged with the British publishing house William Collins & Sons in 1987. The new company was called HarperCollins. FYI.
