Sexuality and Christianity (http://www.christianforums.com/f213)
A forum for the discussion of sexuality (including homosexuality) and how it relates to the Bible. This forum is restricted to members who are older than 18.

Forum-specific rules for this forum:

1. Posters must be over 18 years of age. This is a strict rule. Moderators will ask the age of members if this is not disclosed in the profile. Members caught lying about this will be banned permanently.

2. No sexually-explicit posts will be tolerated. Posts will be edited and members warned or banned without notice. This will include posts that are too descriptive.

3. Moderators have a discretion to edit or remove posts or threads that they feel are offensive. Please be aware that this is a CHRISTIAN forum.

4. Since this remains an open forum which can be accessed by the general public, all posts must be suitable for reading by guests of all ages. Be aware of this, as moderators will edit or remove posts that they feel are not suitable for general viewing.

5. This is a forum to discuss sexuality, and alternative lifestyles. This does not mean that this site condones the behavior of members who post in here. Just because a member posts here does not mean that this site support the member's opinion.

6. As this forum deals with a topic that is potentially controversial, this forum will be moderated very strictly. Do not be surprised by this.

7. Finally, we are all adults here. Let's discuss this like adults, and not resort to childish behavior. :) Let's show respect for different points of views and at times, agree to disagree, without compromising our own beliefs. Human sexuality is an important topic that must not be avoided by Christians. Let's discuss this and learn from one another.

Dr. Erwin, thank you. I have been jumping through verbal hoops to try to discuss some of these subjects without becoming overly explict, but I have felt anxiety, just the same. I applaud you for giving these threads their own forum and for placing an age limit.

Thanks for this new forum and the age limit. This is a great way to keep sex topics on CF away from our younger posters and out of the news forum.

Now I can get answers to questions my youth group kids ask me. Its always good to listen to others speak cause sometimes lessons overlap and there is a reason for it.

Erwin, thank-you for creating the new forum, now the otther forums can perhaps finally be used for their original purpose without being filled up with all of the homosexual threads!

Erwin-
I do think the new forum is a good idea.
For clarification: ANY member or guest can access the forum - correct? So even though a young person (under the age of 18) can't POST there, they can read everything written.

I'm hoping people will keep that in mind as issues are discussed. That just because someone under 18 can't post there, it doesn't mean they don't have full access.

MsAnne is right.

Which is why all posts must be kept clean in any case.

I don't think the teen forums ever allowed sexual topics. At least, I HOPE not.

They have 9 threads going on sexuality, one on oral sex that has been going on quite a while.

I don't think they need to be talking to other teens about sexuality. But it does seem to reason that if they can read the forums, then they should be able to ask questions, and everyone should be adult enough to answer them, otherwise, they read the forum and either don't ask questions, and therefor assume, whatever, or they PM their teenage friends, and they answer each other's questions.

Edited to add, but on the same token I can understand where some parenst might be concerned that their teenagers are on a forum talking about sexuality, but then again that begs the questions, if they know what their teenagers are doing when they are online.

Teens will talk about sex whether we want them to or not. So it's best they do it in a Christian-only forum, where our moderators can watch over them, and provide input.

Agreed, but that does leave out the non-christian teens, getting no educated adult input. I don't like dicussing sex with teens, anymore than I supposed most people would, but I would rather them get accurate information, than assume something.

I'm fine with leaving whatever threads the teens start in the teen forum. I try to tell them what I can when I have a chance.
It's kind of futile.
Most of the threads are like: Is this ok?
Yes.
No.
Yes.
No.
Yes.
No.
Maybe.

Ultimately, like so many issues, I think their parents *should* be the ones they learn from. This isn't happening on a cosmic scale. As an internet site we can't fulfill that role no matter what we do. So I try to work within my limitations and do the best I can.
