Hello,
I am new to this forum and I was wondering "where people here stand on the issue of can one "work" their way to heaven or is it only by God's Grace and by Faith that we get there"? Just curious to what others think about the subject! Thanks for any responses, YSIC, hannah

First of all, welcome to the forum.
To answer your question, the bible is clear that the only way to heaven is thru Christ. That means that we must accept Him as our personal savior. Christ, Himself, said that He is the only path to eternal life in heaven and with the Living God.
It is not possible to work your way to heaven.
A lot of people seem to think that "good works" as mentioned several times in the bible mean that good works will bring about your salvation. Not true.
Our works will all be judged by Christ when we get to meet Him, face to face. At that point He will judge our WORKS to see what kind of rewards we will have earned by those works. That judgement (of works) has nothing to do with salvation. We are already saved by our belief in Him.
Those who rely on good works to earn their salvation will also meet Christ for judgement. That will happen at the Great White Throne judgement at the end of the millenium. That judgement is when they are consigned to the eternal lake of fire for rejecting Christ.

I live by the Spirit - not by the written code . Works are paganistic . One might as well do rain-dances and throw virgins into volcano's .

Yes and what we do with what we know, as well. Faith without works IS dead. If we do not live what we believe, can we say we are truly His?

This verse pretty much sums it up:
Eph 2:7-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
NIV
Now, should true faith produce Godly works...absolutely, but that's another topic.

We are saved by grace through faith, only our faith in Jesus gains us access to heaven, however faith must be accompanied by works or that faith is dead, non existant (as James say).
Also welcome to the forum.
Mark :)
By the way what does YSIC mean?

We are to live by grace, for Christ abolished the law by His death on the cross. you will find many pastors and churches who mix grace with the law and this should not be done. you will also find many pastors and churches who observe babylonian pagan festival holidays and connect them with Christ. this should not be done either. as you grow and learn in the Word, you will see that many so called pastors are false teachers.
i have learned things through my own daily reading of my bible that no church i have ever been to will talk about. they mislead their congregations on so many levels that i wonder if these pastors themselves even understand God's Word at all.

Thank you...as this too is "how I personally believe" but wanted to check the waters to see how many others "Walk by faith and live by grace" and if legalism is an issue here"! Thanks for all the answers, Your Sister In Christ, hannah:)
