Are you primarily a happy Christian, or a sad one?
I'm curious to see how many are sad, and how many are happy.
The following words of Paul may apply: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me.
Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
I too desire to depart. I feel like a square peg in a round hole.

God is good!! :)
I'm basically a happy Christian. There are things in my life that aren't where I want them, and aren't where they're going to be, but as long as I stay in tune with the move of God in my life, and in the lives of my family, I'm pretty upbeat about things.

I think I'm a happy Christian... I'm pretty good about seeing the bright side of things. I just always remember that no matter what, all things work out for good if I am following God! That normally helps me to keep a positive attitude!

I think it's easy to get sad as a Christian if you focus on the world. Our society is just full of evil, pitfalls and all the sin one can afford. Once your saved all that stuff looks uglier and uglier all the time.
However, if you look at the world through the Bible, using it as a filter and focus on what God is actually telling you in His word... as a Christian we should feel a lot of joy.
Everything God tells us revolves around the end that is to come. A glorious ending where God reigns and we all are in His presence for eternity.
Everything hear on earth is a precurser, each life is a gift from God and therefore has value. Each person is placed here at God's will with a purpose in mind. Since each of us has value and purpose we should respect our time here for what it is, His gift to us.
Jesus wept when Lazarus died even though he was just about to raise him from the dead. Why did he weep? All I can figure is because life has value and death is a result of the fall. Life after death is something to look forward to with zeal, but I don't think that means we should over look the value of our lives here and now.
We've got important jobs to do, no matter how small they might seem.
When this world makes me sad it helps me get re-centered if I stop and focus on all those blessings God has given us in His Word, His Creation, His love for us and to prayerfully consider what His purpose is for me at the moment.
All these things over shadow the evil that is in the word and fill my heart with the perfect Joy that is Jesus Christ.

I agree. But I don't think we have to wait until the Lord returns or until we die to enjoy Christ.
When we are looking at the world, we are sad because of what it is like and because we cannot do anything about it.
But God can! And He Is and He Does do things about it.
We can see His working in the world and His miracles every day if we pray and ask Him to show us the joy that is in the world. He is wonderful and we can see Him everywhere!

I also wish to leave and be with the Lord . I am a many-sided peg . But , I know that it won't be long .

I think that I'd call myself a happy Christian. I mean, I can definitely look into my past and see times that I would have said otherwise, but I'm past that. God is good and His mercies endure forever! He turns our mourning into dancing! I mean, with all of the awesome promises that we are given in God's word, how can you not be ecstatic?

I'm joyous. Different than happy. I suffer from bipolar disorder so I am happy then sad then happy then sad...etc but with God I am always joyous.

I would say I am *mostly* happy, life isnt perfect, but it's through our trials we realize our imperfections and just how much we need Him, and in that, draws us closer to His heart.

I think that I am both, i`m happy because of what I know Jesus has done for me and that I will be raised as He is, but sad because there are so many people who are going to an eternity without God.

Hey newleaf,
Of course we're looking for the come back of our Lord or hoping to be with him in a hurry. But for me, not yet. Not because I'm afraid by the death, but there are too many not saved souls ! First, my mother, my nephew, my niece... We're called by Jesus to work in a hurry in this way, before he comes back or before our departure ! Personaly, I'm the first Christian in my family, and I don't want to be the last. BYE. God bless you. SARA

I don't think it's fair or right to lablel ourselves as a "Happy" or "Sad" Christian. It's normal and human to experience all kinds of emotions. Jesus did!

Hmmm… if I vote I may want to change it in five minutes, then change it back again. Happy and sad is just an emotion, such emotion can be governed by many circumstances. If I eat a chilly dog I could become sad, if I sing a song I may become happy again. Yet, I can be Joyful even though I feel sad from eating a chilly dog.
II Corinthians 8:2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of liberality on their part.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Proverbs 14:13: Even in laughter the heart is sad, and the end of joy is grief.
So I guess it would be better polled: are you a joyful Christian or a grieving Christian?
