Here's a little summary for those that dont want to read too much, but just get an overview of the movement:
It was started under the idea of restoring the first-century church(hence Restoration Movement). Two highly important figures were alexander campbell, who started the Church of Christ, and Barton Stone, who started the Disciples of Christ. Both had similar views on certain areas, but highly differed on others. They did suceeded, to a point. They came very close to getting rid of all the "falsehoods" of the other denominatioons of the time. for a larger explanation, the wikipedia page is very helpful.
