"When Paul speaks of "those who preach a different Gospel", he is talking about adding anything to the gospel of Jesus Christ which glorifies the life of the world, and the flesh, or allows sin into our lives." author unknown

I believe he was referring to any gospel that went against what he taught. That salvation was through faith alone in Christ alone. There were many that were preaching a works doctrine, and some who said that you had to become a Jew first, then you could become a Christian.

A different gospel is what is taught in most churches today. A gospel filled with the opinions of man and the traditions of days gone by. A gospel that tells of rules and regulations to follow and if you don't follow them, you won't go to heaven. A gospel that damns you to hell with the point of a finger because you are "in sin".

Jesus was Jewish, he never came to start ane religion, yet another gospel started one and the church has bought into the lie. Christianity has its roots in Judaism. Let me ask this--If the root is an apple tree, will the tree produce oranges?

Peace, all

I believe if you look at the context, Paul was specifically condemning the Judaizers--those who said that you had to become a Jew if you wanted to be a "real" Christian.

Now, I think you can broaden that to include anything contrary to what Paul taught--and broaden it further to anything contrary to what the Bible teaches.

Yes, "works righteousness" would be a "different gospel". So would "faith without works is living, saving faith." You could go on, ad infinitium.

In Christ,

Daniel

Hmm - what do you mean?

Psa 144:9

I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

I think preaching a different Gospel reflects the signs of the times. If we are to labor and faint not, we have to adapt to the new challenges and sins in to our environment. In so doing, we offer prayer and supplication in return for God's understanding of our needs. A fine line to walk, but as Christians our devotion and faith become our means to God's grace.

May the Lord add a Blessing to the hearer of him word.
