... that is 50 min away ;)
So .... we are moving, starting this week
We will be 10-15 min away from church (I've made it in 11). A side benefit is that our new house is 3x larger that where we are now.
Now we just have to make it through closing and the fun of moving, and the fun of selling our old home and a rental etc. etc.

Good for you Oblio :).
I understand your frustration. It is great you can move while others cannot. You must consider yourself blessed. I know we do not have enough churches so people can attend in remoted areas of this country...
I pray you have a smooth move and everything goes ok.
God bless. Christ is Risen!

Dang, you scared me!
I'm the other way... I have two churches within 5-10 mins but of course I attend the one that is 35 mins away... or the one that is 4 hrs away (but that takes some planning). :D
Woohoo for new bigger house!!! :)

I do wish we could all be closer, my and Loukas' Godparents drive about 1:20 each way to church. Ironically, we are trying to form a EO study group here in town so I will still be active locally. Our location is only about 15 min from work so it will not be too much of a time burden. We hope one day to have a mission in this area as many of our parishoners live nearby.

After house fasting for so long, it is like that feast after Pascha, I hope we don't get the post Lent indigestion :D

Just make sure you go through your stuff before you pack up... we moved two households in a week and I'm still unpacking (and throwing out more than I keep). Would have been so much easier if we had had a little extra time to go through things first.

Moving is no fun at all, especially if you pack in a hurry and it takes you months to find where you put everything!

That is wonderful news! We have been looking at some houses lately and it's exciting but also nerve-wracking.

I came pretty close. We had contractors start work on Bright Tuesday. I had to completely empty out our basement, plus run around town buying everything needed for a new bathroom.

Congrats, Oblio! Living close to the church makes a world of difference, and eliminates any reason for being late for DL! ;)

Unless of course you live on Greek time...

This is good news Oblio.
I live exactly the same distance between church and work and it takes me about 20 minutes each way.
There are however many in our parish who travel over an hour each way and come every week, often Saturday AND Sunday. It just wouldn't work for them to move closer as they currently live close to work and our parish is no where near where they work.
I agree with the others, go through things before packing them. Even with a bigger house purging really makes a huge difference.
I once moved 10 times in the same year!! (Yes, it was a very very bad year). By the end of those 10 moves I had gotten my possessions down to the minimum. I don't want to move but I sure think about how much easier it was when I had less stuff.

Currently I drive 25 min north to work, and church is another 30 min north. It will only take me 30-35 to get to work at our new house, and the old trip to work has been getting longer as the traffic increases.

:sigh:
:)
Can't remember the last time I made Matins @ 8:30 or 6:00 on weekdays. With kids and having to plan to leave 1 hr before, it just don't happen.

I'm about 20-25 minutes away from mine, depending on traffic. However, since we are a mission, they keep talking about buying a church building or property, so I'm wondering where this Church will end up. If it is further away than this, I'll definitely be late sometimes!!
I may be moving closer to the Church, if that happens!! ^_^
**just joking** - hubby would NEVER go for that!
