May we all sing praises to our Blessed Mother this Eastertide!
Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia:
Quia quem meruisti portare. alleluia,
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia,
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.
Joy to thee O Queen of Heaven, alleluia:
He whom thou wast meet to bear, alleluia,
As He promised hath aris'n, alleluia.
Pour for us to God thy prayer, alleluia.

Much as I don't object to the Regina Caeli in some circumstances, I must say I find it rather unusual to have any focus on anyone other than Christ at Easter. The Regina Caeli I consider much more appropriate for Christmas...

I would have to agree.

I would happily discuss this but not now - now is a time for rejoicing in the resurrection of our Lord and the glorious hope he offers all humanity.
Let's save theology for tomorrow - today is a day of celebration.

Wise words, and happy Easter.

I think that the Regina Caeli is very appropriate for the Easter Season because after closely reading the prayer you see that it is not in prayer to, or even in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but it is actually a prayer of praise to Our Risen Lord. It is prayed and Christ is praised in unison with she who suffered so much while watching her son die and who certainly of all people was most joyful when he was resurrected.
Joy to thee O Queen of Heaven, alleluia:
He whom thou wast meet to bear, alleluia,
As He promised hath aris'n, alleluia.
Pour for us to God thy prayer, alleluia.
