Do you, as an Anglican/Episcopalian, pray to the Saints? Please vote in the poll.

I do pray to the saints.

I voted no, because it has never been part of my background or my spirituality to do so.

From the Anglican point of view, it's not something one would do, as in Article 22: "The Romish Doctrine concerning Purgatory, Pardons, Worshipping and Adoration, as well of Images as of Relics, and also Invocation of Saints, is a fond thing, vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture, but rather repugnant to the Word of God."

However, the Oxford Movement had an interpretation on this article:

But today we do not have to obey the Thirty-Nine Articles do we? I personally see nothing wrong with praying to the saints. I wouldn't collect relics though. That's just me though. I don't see anything wrong with someone who does.

As a nonAnglican, I didn't vote. However, I do pray the Rosary and ask for the intercession of our brethren in Heaven.

Sometimes, so I guess that means yes. :)

Technically, nobody prays to the Saints. Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholics, and those of a similar tradition venerate the Saints. Actually praying to the Saints would be a form of worship, which strictly speaking is prohibited by the RCC and utterly foreign to the EO's.

I have and do venerate Saints & Relics, but only when the occasion presents itself or the mood strikes me. I was briefly in RCIA and am a baptised EO, but my current Church has no position on this that Im aware of. I'll ask around and get back to you.

Pax Vobiscum.

I do not pray to the Saints...

I do pray for Saints Tickets on a regular basis (Run, Reggie, Run)...

but seriously folks...
I don't pray to the Saints but I do pray a Rosery (sometimes)...
asking the Saints to pray for you and praying to them are 2 different things...

I voted no.

I pray to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

I have created a new thread with a different poll that has more accurate wording for the meaning that I meant to convey if you all want to in my other thread.

I think they are the same thing. Prayer is simply asking one to do something for you. If you are asking someone to pray for you, you are praying to them to pray for you.

Somehow, the word "prayer" has become perceived to be only about talking to God. Actually "prayer" is just an old word for asking anyone for something. For example, "Pray tell, what did she wear to the reception?"
or the "prayer for relief" that ends any legal pleading filed in court.

Surprised to read that. Particularly seeing Smith Wigglesworth dubbed (Apostleof Faith) included in your profile.
