Some years back, when I was attending Redeemer in Huntington Beach, Pastor Rosenbladt gave us a report on a conferrence and debate he had attended.
The subject of the conferrence I've forgotten. I think it might have had to do with the Creeds and appologetics, but sorry, I just don't remember.
The Debate was between Dr. Rosenbladt and a Roman Catholic Bishop. What they were debating was the Reformation and wheather Luther was right. When Dr. Rosenbladt brought up the Apostle Paul's writings over and over again the Bishop finally lost his temper and said, 'Enough already with the Pauline writings! Everyone knows that Paul was the first Lutheran!' Or something to that effect. Pastor Rosenbladt played the pertinent sections of the debate including this comment. One could hear the celing fall in on the tape and of course, it brought the house down with us as well.

Hey! I just noticed something! My reps have doubled. Must have done something right lately. Wish I could remember. But for the life of me I've no idea what it was.

Yes, Seajoy, you're right. There are people who have suffered worse afflictions than you. The problem with your similie is that if you take it to it's furthest definition, you become buddist. Or possibly Hindu (Karma, baaaad karma:eek: ).

If you had such a bad session with the doctor, then I would say that she is incompetant. She has the responsiblity to read your file before going in to see you. It's part of taking over a patient. Had your previous doctor been giving you cortizone shots, it's now her responsibility to continue the same treatment. Instead she's one of those sadistic jerks that refuse the proper treatment for pain therapy. I'd love to go in there and slap that bi... um, broad silly.

Now it's my turn to say 'sorry'.:sorry: Reading that pastor's piffle just has me seeing red.

What I was getting to, is the same as Ctay and 'Porter. If you can't tell us, who can you? You are in my (for what they're worth) prayers every night. I continue to place you before the Throne of Mercy. I can't guarantee the veracity of my prayer life as I'm certainly the least of his children.

To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, 'sometimes it just stinks to be that block of marble when the sculptor keeps wailing on it.' Hang in there Luv. We're with ya!:groupray:

You're right SeaJoy, things suck right now. But, you can always come here and vent. I have an open shoulder for you anytime you need it.

You have rights as a patient. You have the right to proper pain management. If I were you, I would call your rhumatologists office tomorrow as soon as they open and tell them "I am in so much pain I can NOT sleep. PLEASE do you have an emergency appointment for me? I am in AGONY." Let them know how badly you hurt. Do NOT take no for an answer. If the desk clerk won't/can't schedule you, ask to speak to a nurse. The desk people can only do what they're trained to do. (I know, I used to be one of 'em.) The nurses can make the call to get you in sooner. Emergency appointments are kept for just that purpose. Emergencies. (Also, if you are in pain on a scale to 1-10 and your pain is an 11...GO TO THE ER! They WILL help you!)

When I was bleeding heavily back in '05 and had a blood clot form in my left leg and we found that my hemoglobin was at a 4 (the lowest you should ever be is a 12. A 3 is "near death" to put it as the ER doc told me.) I called my GYN's office for the first time. They have the rule that new patients can only be scheduled 4 months in advance. Meaning, I called them in September and the first I could have gotten in as a new patent was January. I told the desk person that I'd just had 4 bags of blood the day before and I was still bleeding heavily. I needed to see a GYN NOW! She said "sorry. try someone else." And hung up. I cried and cried and then I bucked up, called back to the office and said "I want to speak to a nurse. NOW." I was, in effect, a Bi...uh what 'Clunker almost said. :D I got a nurse AND an appointment an hour later.

Later, when I'd told my GYN what actually happened (after many tests and then almost dying in the ER because I bled out the day before my surgery.) with the desk clerk, she told me that I'd have been terminal if I'd have waited 'till January. That's how fast growing my cancer was.

The moral of my story is, don't wait. Take action. MAKE them understand that you need HELP and you need it NOW. It isn't fair to you to make you be in pain.

It's hard to do, especially if you're like me and not really one that gets angry and B***** in situations. Or if you're like me and are a soft touch. But you CAN do it! Heck, if *I* can do it, ANYONE can do it!

Many prayers!

Kae

Wow Kae, Thanks for your post  . You are a doll!

Funny thing is, I worked in an ER for 7 years. But when you are the patient, and the one in pain, sticking up for yourself is really hard. I know all the right stuff to say and do, but I couldn't do it...couldn't think it through. I could tell this gal just wanted to get rid of me...as I said she's retiring in one month.

I called my rheumatologist's office when I got home, but it was too late to schedule anything. I'm calling first thing tomorrow. His nurse said he will try a cortizone shot, at least.

Kae, I'm glad you got help, and are still with us! Thanks for your prayers, and I continue to pray for you, too!

You know, I have a great deal of respect for ER personnel. They often have to take up the slack for the callous and incompetent medical staff that take up space out there. I remember once when the pain from my severed nerves (in my elbows) got to be too much and my wife took me to the emergency room. I couldn't allow anything to touch me from the elbows down. The ER personnel were kind and understanding. They even allowed me to stand and pace in the hall, as it made it easier to bear the pain. The doctor that finally saw me, sent me home with a large bottle of pain killers that I was able to streach for over a week. It took my wife having to change the bed clothes because of my cold sweats from the pain before she took me in, though. My HMO refused at first to cover the ER visit. Would you believe it? They said that my regular doctor had determined it was unnessary. I arranged payments with the hospital and the doctor there called me, as a follow up. He then called my doctor and informed him that malpractice was something that even HMO doctors can be charged with. They paid the ER bill.

A friend of mine who also has fibro, took a sleep study. They recommended rohypnal which she opted not to take but the reason they recommended it was for her to sleep deeper.

She and another lady on the same list (who is also a fibro sufferer) both have taken mucinex and both swear that it helps tremendously. There's also a pressure point massage technique book one of them talks about. I'll get the name of it and get back to you.

I did call, and the earliest I can get in is May 3rd! No matter how much in pain I am, they said I'll have to wait. The pain is still bothersome, but I'm grateful to God for the rest I got last night.

Adding drugs to my collection is not a good idea. I already am on several for other things. But I would be interested in the pressure point book. That is something I've been wondering about anyway.

Thanks Quilty....just got back from the pool. It felt pretty good, too. A chance to stretch...........

I had an interesting thing happen while I was there (now help me out...pastor's wife, if what I said was ok :) ).

I was swimming along happily, all by myself....when this old fellow came in. I was in the pool....he in the hot tub.

When I get tired from swimming and stretching, I float...it's gotten to where I can lay on my back and nearly fall asleep, without moving a muscle. Well, this old fellow was by now out of the hot tub, and sitting there watching me (which I did not notice). From out of the blue, he said "I just marvel at how you can float like that! I just sink like a rock!" "How do you do it?"

I said, "I don't do anything, the water does it all...kind of like believing in God, I guess." Then he said "So you just trust the water can do it's job?" I said "yes, that's it."

Neither one of us said another word. Other folks came in then, and it was time for me to leave. I feel badly that I said "God" instead of "Jesus", but I hope a seed was planted for God to use, if it was needed in the old gent.

Interesting swim.

So, does anyone here knit?

I've been knitting for about a year now and I LOVE it. So relaxing...except when it's not. :D I have a serious yarn habit and can't go by a skein without touching it...petting it...yearning for it.

So, anyone share my love of knitting?

I'm a knitter!! I taught myself how to knit when I was about 12 or 13 :) I used to get books from the library and copy down the patterns by hand on post it notes...but only used a couple to make things.

I have a cute seed stitch baby booty pattern somewhere and I used to make tons of baby booties!! Now I'm mostly into making scarves as I don't have time to sit and do something long or difficult. My daughter and nieces all love the scarves and the yarns these days are so much fun to work with!

Got to go run some braille off today. Got to talk to the Pastor's mother in law. I'm in charge of the braille. She went in sometime yesterday and ran some braille off, numbered some pages that was already taken care of and someone had numbered to many and we had to count them so I don't know if she ran the amount of that number or not. She won't tell me what she's doing. She needs to tell me so I'll know if I get new runners where to start and stuff. She does stuff like this and it feels like she's trying to take over in a way. Her daughter/Pastor's wife started and she ended up doing a lot of it before I got asked to take it over. I got to figure a way to tell her something and not hurt her feelings. I don't mind her helping, she just needs to tell me what she's doing and stuff.

ctay,

Could you maybe start up a chart to indicate what you've done, how far you've gotten, for BOTH of you to fill out. That way you can introduce it to her as a benefit for both of you instead of just saying she needs to tell you where she's at and how much she's done. You can say it will help her know where you're at as well?

Just a thought.

Hooray for another knitter! :D I wanted to knit so badly but didn't know anyone to teach me. So, I took out a book from the library and didn't look back.

I'm in the middle of my first sock. I'm a little scared to turn the heel even though everyone says that it's really pretty fun. I'll get there though.

I'm currently working on a bunny for my God-sister. (My parents are her Godparents. I'm Godmother to her older sister.) Her birthday is next week. And I still have to finish the second half of the body and the arms, stuff it and sew on the eyes and nose.

As we came in to shore, I said "I wish I knew how to paddle...how do you do it?" He then got out of the canoe, and shoved it back out into the pond....and said...."Now paddle!"

Well, I was blazin' mad, as I didn't know what I was doing at all. So of course, I started yelling....got some old guy fishermen to give me glaring looks, as I scared all their fish away.

I did finally get myself to shore after I was all calmed down. My husband...he's quite a funny fellow...is he not?

To tell the truth I haven't been fishing in six years and likely won't go this year either. I did get to fish in Oregon about 6 years ago. I won a sales contest and got a free trip out there. We didn't catch any but we did see some monster salmoon, Even bought some equipment but we din't have the right bait of something. There were all running in the river. We did get down to California and up to see Miunt Helen. Pretty country out there. I love those hills and the winding roads around and through the mountains.

If ever a stretch of highway needed to be redone, that's it... especially that interchange with 170. Going eastbound on 40 and getting onto 170 was near impossible, having to get off onto Brentwood and crossing six lanes of traffic in such a short distance. And I was NEVER in the right lane for 170. Many times I just ended up going down Eager Road to Hanley and getting on 40 West in order to get back to 170. A real mess.

Got a story. Both of my granddaughters and hubby went to church with me yesterday morning. Our youngest son still lives at home. Well on the way home after church the 6 yr old asked me why my youngest doesn't go to church. I told her I don't know, that she'll have to ask him. Then she goes well he needs to go, he needs to get out of the house more and not lay around in front of the tv so much, that it will hurt his eyes. Its not good for him and so on.

We watched "Cinderella Man" last week. This reminds me of when the main character came home and saw his young son playing outside. He asked what his son was doing.

"I'm bein' good, bein' quiet, bein' have." (said long-sufferingly, obviously repeating what his mother had told him to do)

I had to chuckle. "Bein' have" makes SO much sense when you think about it. "You be good. Be quiet. Behave!"

So, Rev, don't worry. We'll be "bein' have" while you're gone.

Is anyone else getting rain? We were pummeled last night with hail and were greeted by a tornado coming out of church after Bible study.

Hopefully, it will be less severe today. I have to take my daughter to San Antonio for an ortho. appt. The traffic is bad enough without rain, but if it gets too bad, we'll pull over and shop. :D

Hello Ladies.

Does anyone else listen to Radio Disney?

Yesterday evening we heard 2 advertisements discussing sex; one was in defense of homosexuality.

I thought the first one was a fluke and changed channels, but when the second one came on I listened to it and got more than a little angry. Of course my daughter and I had a discussion about it and I told her if this is what they put on besides music, I won't allow her to listen to it any longer.

She never listens to the station outside of the vehicle and not typically in the evening unless we're traveling, but I have never heard anything like what we heard outside of talk radio. It was bizarre.

I sent an e-mail to their VP of Advertising and Marketing and I'd better get a satisfactory response. I couldn't let it go.

I have a wee problem and could use a bit of advice. See my friend is a Nazerine and extremely legalistic. She keeps giving me these books asking me to read them. For instance, she gave me Living Beyond The Limits, a devotional by Franklin Graham, and wants me to go through it. Billy and his son, Franklin Graham are fine men. Still, I don't believe what they do. I keep telling her this. Paula gave me one today that had to do with living the sanctified life, or something like that. I can't quite remember the name. She also won't stand even the mildest of profanity, getting really adamantly offended. Now, before anyone starts jumping down my throat, Hell and Damn are the worst words in my public vocabulary. For instance, I jokingly told her that I was Damned to Eh, Oh, Hell. She was offended. Told me that I was 'grieving the Spirit with my unseemly speech.' Another time, she said that they (she and her fiance') might get stuck with a new home they were in the process of buying. I responded, again jokingly, "Oh damn! You'll just have to suffer with the nicest home on this side of the lake!" Again, she was offended.

I've been trying to get out of this house. It's bleeding me white and the driveway is destroying my cars. Yet, she constantly waxes poetic about how beautiful the setting is, the view, the privacy, etc ad nauseum. All of which is true. Still, the place is bleeding me and the driveway is terrible (long too)! Just today, she was saying, "are you sure God wants you to move from Lewiston? Look how beautiful this is. Why do you want to go to a place you've never been?" This less than ten minutes after holding on for dear life whilst going up my driveway and complaining how bad it is.

Paula trys to get me to go to church with her. She is getting more and more agressive with her prosthelyzing. How do I deal with this? The woman has pulled my chestnuts out of the fire and been more of a Christian sister to me than anyone else I've ever met. What she is doing is in sisterly love, still sometimes, it's suffocating.

She has worked her way into my heart and I have no wish to hurt her. She is kind, there when I need help, encourging, suffocatingly leagalistic, and drives me crazy. Any suggestions on how I can deal with this?

Stude,

How long have you known this person? She knows you are already a Christian, yet is trying to convert you......that's not so nice, on her part.

If she is a friend, you can surely say...I'm happy being Lutheran, and I see it as the place God has led me to. Who can argue with God's leading?
