Abomination of Desolation

Do you think that the lack of speaking in tongues is an abomination?

What is your idea of what God would consider an abomination... an abomination big enough to be call the abomination of desolation?

I have read many articles on the subject and have given some serious study to the subject. I am leaning towards worship.. for without that connection this world would be desolate.

I tend to think the proper historical context of that phrase is simple enough without over-spiritualizing it. The plain meaning is heavy enough.

I think the "lack of speaking in tongues" being an abomination would mean that God considered the church an abomination until 1901 which is something I don't think adds up.

Just my opinion.

Pagan stuff around or in the Temple. That's the traditional and most obvious understanding.

But I'm sure there's deeper stuff as well.

1.) In Egypt it was a abomination to sacrifice a lamb.... Could this have any relationship to the end time flurry?

2.) Here is another interesting thought...since this is the time to think about the Passover... Leviticus 7:18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.

3.) We know that Leviticus is full of defined abominations with regards to unclean animals (when considered as something to eat) ... Lev 11

4.) I know this is no allowed to be spoken of in today's correct political society and religions will be punished for bringing it up... so I will just post quotes...
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. and Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

5.) Think about those things that you have offered up to the Lord in your heart when you read this verse...
Deuteronomy 17:1 Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evilfavouredness: for that is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

6.) With the lines blurred when it some to clothing in this generation we can see examples of this everywhere....Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

7.) How conscienous are we about all that we have...
Deuteronomy 27:15 Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

8.) Have we sacrificed our children to the ways of the heathens around us? 2 Kings 16:3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

9.) How about in the spiritual rhelm? Think about all the TV programs which are develing in the witches, mediums, living dead, ghosts, etc. 2 Kings 23:24
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

That leaves us with the question.... Ezra 9:14
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

Sounds like their actions were an abomination. From the way it is written it was swift. How much more would the false god be an abomination?

Would desolation of faith do it? In other words would the lead astray large enough to engulf the whole world be an abomination in the Lord's eyes?
