Be watchful .... be vigiliant ....
They grow up too quickly these days.

It's frightening what has happened to time lately. He's only 5 months old but it seems like he's been part of our life forever and I can't imagine life without him.

And, oh my goodness, I can't believe some of the programming. I thought surely Cartoon Network would be kid friendly until I'm watching Scoobie Doo (of all things, my favorite show when I was a preschooler) and they are showing some girls who are misunderstood Wiccans. Eeps

Have fun with them while they are young. By fan I mean take lots of pics, videos of their first words, songs, B-parties etc. You will treasure them later. And then go out there and have more fun... Enjoy these years with them.
God bless him he looks precious.

Indeed. First time I've ever been able to justify spending $*00s in electronics (camcorder) as a non-luxury. I need to get busy learning this editing software and burning DVDs so I can start recycling tapes. :D

A 360 is too advanced for him. Get a Super Nintendo instead. :P

Still my favourite. I learned it by having two friends gang up on me for hours until I consistently beat them.
(Hmmm, I need a sly, derisive snicker smiley for that.)

Here, and I was 11 when I was given a five year old used 8-bit NES by a friend. I don't much care for all the new games cause they take too long to play. Why would I want to spend 30 hours minimum on a video game? At least with a tabletop and dice, there's real people around to interact with.

I lost 6 friends DMing when they all succumbed to the "gorge of eternal peril" after a year of playing. They hardly spoke to me after that.
Certainly everyone should have known what is the capital of Assyria!!! The whole episode eventually led me to a life of Quake and similar debauchery.

That's what I love about MMORPGs, the camaraderie of meeting new people, hanging out, fighting monsters together, travelling to dangerous places, etc.

And then they complain to their friends that they never meet any girls or go out, but if you ask them to go out they are too busy playing.
i wonder who would go for mr ultrapale who eats things out of a can and has Food growing under the couch cuz he just 'hasnt' the time to clean.

Nah, the antisocial geek weirdos are a relatively small minority. The vast majority of people I've met over the years on various MMOs are well adjusted adults who choose video games over televised activities such as sports, movies, etc as their means of entertainment.
Kind of like the crowd at a football game. Most of the people there are average Joes but the ones you remember are those painted up, with wigs and waving signs.
Edited to add:
World of Warcraft, while a great game, does tend to have a larger number of immature gamers because it is made to be more accessible than more "hard core" MMORPGs like Everquest and Vanguard.

Hahaha... this has literally happened. I knew a guy who let a sandwich sit out somewhere for a few months, and his roommates wouldn't leave him alone until he apologized for the bugs that it attracted.

I have some friends who are like that. Food in dishes sitting on the stove or in the sink or on the TV or in the corner under a chair, for days and days. Piles of clothes all over and fossilized dog doo scattered around. Not game related, just lax housekeeping habits. But I can't talk. When I was single and on my own, my apt looked quite similar as I was usually too stoned to notice my surroundings.

Yeah, I ordered a Nintendo DS and got Brain Age (http://www.nintendo.com/gamemini?gameid=Y9QLGBWxkmRRzsQEQtvqGqZ63_CjS_9F) for it. I'm really looking forward to playing it as I love puzzle games. I wish they would get more educational software for it. In Japan they use them in classrooms and have a lot of educational softare. I wish there was a Spanish program available for it.

We have a few friends like this but the threat of navy discipline at least gets them out of the house all working days. But I'm about to scream each time I hear: don't you know some nice girl to hook me up with.
i usually told them that yes i do but they are all orthodox and it would require them to leave their hole BOTH saturday night AND sunday.

When i was an exchange student the family i lived with played D&D and first i didnt get it at all but then i started following and was just cracking up as much as they were. Never played though.
I have heard of Lord of the Ring based groups (pre movies) in Finland who were hard core. Aka played for weeks in a row. Gotta love the social system that makes that too possible.
