I wish you a Happy Easter!
Thanks to God, he is risen! :prayer:

I really don't know some doxologies in English, so I post one in German.
Maybe there is someone who understands this. ;)
Er ist wahrhaftig auferstanden. Halleluja.

Amen
I think everybody prays best in his mother tongue.

We have a partly-potluck breakfast. The Fellowship Committee makes egg casseroles, and people sign up for the rest. I signed up to make "coffee cake" so I made my banana-chocolate chip Bundt cake in the castle-shaped mold, and pulled out the hand-colored rainbow sign Gem made that says "A Mighty Fortress is Our God". *grins* It's usually a big hit.

Tomorrow afternoon we're going to the in-laws, and I'm bringing veggies. Cold broccoli salad and hot herbed carrots (dill, lemongrass, chives). It'll be the first family thing my husband and his younger brother have been to since Christmas.. when they got into such a political debate that the brother sent my husband a not-so-nice letter saying he never wanted to talk to him again, nor hear about our loser friends, and explained in insidious detail how disappointed he was that my husband hadn't made more of his life (hadn't finished college, etc).

We've been praying for reconciliation for months. They've talked once since then. This will be the first full-family "thing" where they'll have to interact.

Should be interesting.

Your coffee cake sounds yummy, can Ya send me a piece :yum:

Best wishes with the family gathering

I don't speak German, but used an online translator for Renatus' doxology he posted:
It up-arose truly. Halleluja.

That death is not longer the latter that this new morning brought a new life to the day that from the end one the new beginning for us became everything that we are to live, is the message of the österlichen celebration is intended that for the life. Christi grave is open and the graves will open themselves, the light seems already, brightly it is to become in our world.

The way is pointed to us. We can open ourselves to see and be astonished to hear and answer, to sing, that us the new, marvelous, eternal life give. We are correct into the large choir of the Osterlobes, which erschallt today everywhere

Well, we're back home safe and sound. The brothers were polite over dinner, then went into separate rooms for after-dinner discussions -- Hunter to the kitchen and M to the living room. Later, when things shifted, I wasn't surprised to see that when Hunter had moved to the living room, M had moved to the kitchen.

But all in all, it was peaceful.

I did have a very blessed Easter. I didn't do much besides sleep. I had to work the night before and that night. That's the one problem with working at a nursing home: you can't very well close it down for the day.

Had a pretty good day yesterday, too. My wife and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. Our son turned 9 months yesterday (born July 9, 2006). My father-in-law was up from Iowa so it was nice to spend time with him.

Aidiaphora means "things indifferent" meaning not required for salvation, nor are they banned (tradition is fine, candles, church year, etc. - nice to have, never necessary)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adiaphora

Alehaus is just Alehouse - basically like Salloon or Bar (okay, without the bar fights, hopefully!)

And to keep women away ... the following rules.:preach:

1. No shaving more often than once a week.
2. Politeness is a form of transgression.

Argh!
Ed needs more than a sign, synger. Trust me.
For a single man, this list is not too far from reality.
Married men gravitate towards accomplishing this list but their wives work hard all their lives to keep them "civilized". If the wife blinks or is away for more than a week, one of the items on this list (like item number 7 or a similar transgression) grows into a habit.
Folks, sorry for budging in. As a sister who helplessly wittnessed bedroom-into-a pool room transformation, I had to contribute my two cents.
Back to my "baptist" corner. Don't throw rotten tomatoes at me!

I have them in the ceiling light in our bedroom but you have to get out a flashlight to see of they are burning ;) I've also read that they cause cataratcs besides I want to hog a little juice so Al Gore doesn't get it all. :D

We "Da Men" should form our exclusive club.
And to keep women away ... the following rules.:preach:

1. No shaving more often than once a week.
2. Politeness is a form of transgression.
3. Food consists exclusively of meat.
4. Bedroom is converted to a pool room.
5. Reading library (outside of Bible) - hunting, "Learn how not to answer questions in 10 days or less".
6. Paper plates.
7. Reinstitute traditional burping as a form of flattery.
8. Closets are used as places to gather stuff.
9. Replace the chandelier with a single 1000W bulb.
10. Unfinished projects all over the place.
11. General impression of an unexplored cave.

Hmm.

If you are officially accepted into the "Da Men" club, ... you'll need to realize that these 11 were just the 10 commandments.

The entire Law of "Da Men" club has many rules and regulations.

Just to scratch the surface ...

1a. Men scratch in the most unpredictable places and times.
2a. They make animal noises when finding an interesting part in a book or watching a TV program.
3a. They sleep, eat, bathe when they feel like it.
4a. Only the fact that they are made in God's image keeps them from sniffing a fire hydrant ...

This IS just a tip of an iceburg.

Are you sure?

1a. We do too, but we are much better at being discreet about it.
2a. And our screams when we spot a sale or Brad Pitt doesn't sound like a hyena?
3a. Would only be an issue if I snuggled up close - last time I checked, real men aren't into snuggling, so I don't see it being an issue.
4a.:confused::confused: Can't think of anything witty for that one. Give me some time.

I will pray this evening and before I go to school.
God helped me many times to relax in exams.
Now I even more relaxed as before I had found god and had to write an exam in the past.

Oh my goodness, it is a gorgeous day out today. The kind of day that makes me wish it was Saturday so I could go to the beach.
In Germany we also have had some great days, sunny and about 20 C. But I had to learn, so I hadn't some time to do something outside. :sigh:

I just have found the radio on this site. ^_^
Nice music stations.
Alas, Germany don't have any good christian rock bands, much less christian music stations.

ok, our one interpreter when i was in ukraine in 2005 played us some ukrainian & russian rap music -- she then told us what they were talking about -- one was about how good it was to eat eggs....the other was about watching clouds! not that i like rap music, but that was SO DIFFERENT than american rap!!

OK, that's good.
Now, once you get into the tub you need to take your boots off ... off. You'll break the dishes.

The soap, is that dried out oval thing that kids were always trying to write funny faces with on your coat.
Once you put water on it, it actually soaps - it surpised the heck out of me.

Make sure you use your laundry to wipe the dishes off - dried up water leaves spots on dishes (my sister's saying - I still do not know what that means. Probably a Baptist myth of a sort).

The exam's content was ok. It was about the American Dream and Integration. Unfortunately, I think my language could be the problem, but I think it's enough to pass that exam. ;)

Now there are only 3 exams left.
