I came across this website and it made me simply cry because of the laughter invoked in it. I believe it is made from one of those main line protestant KJV only guys. It is filled with lies, and misconeptions, sigh. Here is the site, for your amusement of course:thumbsup:

Lutheran are a false 'religion' :D

I only clicked the second link...what a strange site. I read a few of their objections to the denomination I was raised in, and it seemed to be based mostly on semantics and deliberate "misinterpretations."

Do you think it could be a phantom site deliberately trieing to put a bad name on Fundamentalist Christians (But I do know some FC that act this way)?

It amazes me when I run across these guys who totally ignore what the early church believed for the first 300 yrs and this testimony can be found in the writings of the early church fathers. All held to the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and baptismal regeneration, which this critic is oblivious to.

Quite frankly the site shows ignorance about truth. He is quite subjective in his views and he is free to have them.

What this website is more about is the hatred of Roman Catholicism and any denomination that appears close to it in form.

The upside cross makes me laugh. He thinks it is Satanic when it clearly represents the Apostolic succession that the Pope has. Since Peter was crucified on an upside down cross and was the first Pope, according to the Roman Catholic Church. When was the upside cross considering Satanic? I think within the last century.

It always amazes me when someone takes things out of context. Out of context of the whole text being quoted and out of context of the era in which it was written.

I also like it when they say your don't have to do anything, yet you must pray this prayer (the sinner's prayer).

I am not sure I want to take more time to read that site.

Tis a shame but we can only expect it as Jesus warned us before He left this world. The following scripture came to mind when I read some of things that they said.

2Pe 3:14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
2Pe 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.
2Pe 3:16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
2Pe 3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.
2Pe 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

I've seen that site previously *shivers*

I think I know to which denomination the webmaster belongs because of my searching in faith history. That's all I'll say - I don't know that I could say things regarding this and that in any nice way . . . so, I'm not going to say anything!

Actually it is good in some ways. Maybe we will have some denoms come in here and want clarification and then we can witness to them. I think most mainline denoms know that it is not true. We have our differences but they know we aren't of the devil like this guy says. I think there are groups out there that are afraid of us because we know the truth.

In this day and age we will see more and more CHristians having to defend the faith. Consider it a privilege. The martyrs in the rest of the world have been doing it forever. Now maybe it's our turn.

Wear your Christianity on your sleeve. Fight the good fight of faith.

Yes, the bunny huggers behave as though we have no right to exist on this planet.
Could we be more careful? Of course, but I'll bet Gore conveniently justifies his own fossil-fuel reliant travel to meet the demands of his speaking schedule in large, inefficient lecture rooms served by HVAC systems. Hypocrisy defined!

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread.
This guy went all out against you all and only had two links about my denomination... we're the ones who usually make good targets ;)

it was very amusing.

Global Warming is Off Topic, but we found and downloaded a BBC special on it where it is called a great swindle.

Bridget, on one of those links there is a link to churches that have it right (according to the site) and they are all one denom that I can see. I am not sure which branch of that they are though.

Satan will use whatever tool he can use to get us.

The thing is, people will read something that Luther wrote and quote it totally out of context. If they really dig through all of his writings, one can easily discover what was going on.

Hmm, well, I thought I knew. . .but now I'm confused again. . .

I don't remember the last time that I saw this if I found what it said and looking right now, I just must be missing that link - I'm just tired after yesterday. . .

Ha, I was surprised too. But I think the author was more interested in firing his guns at the Roman Catholic Church. I was laughing continuously when reading his accusations. Eh, what are you going to do...:D

Bridget,
I am not finding the link right now, there is so much on each page of the site that it is hard to find things.

Because it is so, I wonder how many people stop and explore this site.

ETA: I finally found the link: http://www.biblebelievers.com/churches/index.html

Hmm, all some type of Baptists - yet not a single one in Lake Charles (where the majority of Christians are Catholic and Baptist. . .that one is confusing - must be some fundamentalist Baptist congregations. . .whatever they call themselves.)

Looked around some more, and yeah, definitely idiotic, insincere and shameful site.

Look guys, all labels include certain freaks with whci we'd be ashamed to be associated. I am quite certain some Lutheran synods espose views with which some of you would be ashamed to be associated with. These guys are Fundi Freaks. They are among those who give Fundies a bad name.

cubanito, I know you aren't the only one.

This site is such an "in your face" type. Big bold letters, stuff flashing, too much on one page, cumbersome to navigate. Just looking at the first page is such a turn off.

You're welcome. It is important we use small brushes to paint pictures of one another. Fundamentalism includes many different denominations, as well as individuals. For example I am in the PCA (Presby Church in America). We drink alcohol, dance, baptize infants, and so on. Yet, because we believe in the Inerrancy of Scripture, we truly are fundamentalists.

A Christian Fundamentalist is often (and I think best) expressed by "The Chicago Statement of the Fundamentals". This is a widely available set of statements that was produced pricipally as a response against the "higher criticism" and other liberal theologies of the 1800's.
While I do not know for sure, there probably are Lutheran Synods that would subscribe to this, and thus could be rightly called Christian Fundamentalists.

I wish there were a non-pejorative term I could use to describe the kind of groups that hold to such views as KJV-only, no alcohol, and a tendency towards the "Holiness" movement. Unfortunately, the anti-Christian media delights in stereoptying all Fundamentalists as these groups whom, again, I have difficulty describing in non-pejorative terms.

Mainline and KJV only is a contradiction in terms. Mainline churches tend to be center-left ideolog I doubt that the LCMS and certainly not WELS are in the category of mainstream. Usually the term is used to refer to denominations such as the ECUSA, PCUSA, ELCA, UMC, UCC (it was mainline when my mom was a kid and they were the Congregationalists, it might have moved closer to the Unitarians' end of the spectrum), Baptists (who form the conservative end of mainstream, with exceptions such as the Southern Baptist convention which are too right wing to be mainstream)
