Hi, wondering if I can get some help on this one. My dog is 14, and has a really large tumor on her brain. She was diagnosed today, and they say she has a week to live. I think my step dad will put her down, but I will get to see her one last time tomarrow. Any advice about this situation? I know we've all been through it, and I knew this day was coming, just not so soon. What I am wondering is, does the Bible say anything about animals? Do they go to heaven or not? I would really appreciate some advice on this, she was like my best friend, and it is a really sad situation.

Never really considered animals to have "souls." I've never been influenced to believe that they do...

I've seen some amount of pets die over the years, it's hard, but they're just animals.

I know you must have loved your dog, but remember, the gap left behind can only be filled with more of God's love.

I'll be praying for you, Chris.

I think they do, but it's more a matter of comfort than actually having read it in the Bible. I'm really sorry your dog has to be put down, so many dogs seem to be getting cancer these days. Just like we do. :( The dog I've grown up with will be 17 and she has tumors spread throughout her body, but we won't put her down because she isn't in pain yet. She still chases my dog (who is a two year old JRT mix) around and plays with him every day.

Edit to add: Your dog is beautiful.

Oh Chris. I know how you feel. I had to put my cat down in August. . .she had been with our family for 10 years or so and I loved her dearly. She was so sick and we were going away on vacation. Her kidneys were failing--had been for a while--and the docs couldn't do anything for her. We knew that she would be dead when we returned home. My dad and I went to have her put down and it was one of the most difficult days of my life and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I knew that I had to be there. . .couldn't live with myself if I wasn't with her till the end. Anyway, my dad told us the day she died that there would be no more tears in heaven and that if her being there was necessary for our happiness, that she would be there. Not exactly from the Bible, but it helped us. I am so sorry about your dog. . .praying for you.

I'm really sorry Chris. Pets are special. :) She's a purdy dog.

I have a dog too and she is sooooo spoiled but a very good dog. My parents hates to leave the house for long and leave her alone.
Missy my dog is very protective, especially of my parents. Missy sleeps on my parents bed. My dad is a diabetic & she's woke my parents up whining at my dad, several times now at night, cause his sugar dropped so low he was starting to go into serious problems. He would then take meds & eat to bring his sugar level back up. :) We believe she has saved his life cause of it.

Praying for ya. :) Have you thought about finding another dog? I know it won't replace your dog but would help fill the hole in your heart. :)
