I grew up sbc, but the last one i went to was kind of a mix of sbc ad independent. Don't ask me to explain, I never really understood.
Looking for something closer to home than the 30 mile drive I have now, but everything seems to be either contempary (not our style) or so closed that unless you are that straight line baptist you are not really excepted.

I think of myself as non-domination,
because of being raised as BP. Read the Bible and talking to others will help you find the comfort you seek. I believe everthing that BP. believe, but have a problem with the strict way they are to called to live.

I don't have a huge problem at my Church, it's the difference in the way a person may choose to live there life and the bye laws of a given Church.
If you go to a bowling alley to bowl a few games and there is a bar in there. Are you sinning because there is a bar in there ?? and in Church eyes it's a wicked place of sin because of the bar. I myself think it's ok

We were talking about finding a Church that is comfortable to you. About being a member
of that Church and agreeing with bye laws or rules that the Church believes and you should follow as a member.
A strong Bap, Church Does not condone a member
drinking beer and would ask him to leave the Church.
a Non- Demon Church would says it's ok, as long as it is done in moderation per the Bible. But a Non-Domon are a little to weak on the laws of the Bible. which do you pick ???? They are both Bible believeing Groups. I picked Non-Demon I fit better, but not agreeing to eveything they do.
Hope more clear now

Its not about if I can have a beer (I would anyway) or dance (which I can't do). Its more to do with many in this area seem to be very contemporary (which really does not fit well for me) or they are filled with people that grew up there and being an outsider (from elsewhere) I don't feel that I am connecting with people there.

Depending on how far from DC you are - you might find this church meets your fellowship needs. I hear wonderful things about the church and the pastor. I know some CF members attend this church.

Hi byjove:wave: Welcome pray you are able to find fellowship here.
But nothing compare's or takes the place of the face to face fellowship. It's sad you have not been able to recieve this at the church you go to now. But I pray you don't give up your search.
Have you tryed to serve somewhere in the church? Have you meet with the Pastors at this church, to see where one could serve?
Sometimes we are the ones that need to reach out to serve and seek out the fellowship.
I will pray that you recieve the fellowship you disire.:prayer:
May God bless you!
