I was in Washington DC this morning working. When it came time to leave my last job the Garmin couldn’t pick up the satellite, so I just sorta drove around. I ended up on Massachusettes Avenue, which it turns out, is “Embassy Row”. It was a neat sidetrack. The embassy buildings are stately and unique. The national flags and expensive cars out front give the area an interesting atmosphere. I recall seeing embassies of Peru, Japan, South Korea, Ivory Coast, and Brazil. There were many, but often the name was too small to read (I was driving, after all), and I didn’t recognize all the flags.
Wiki has an article on Embassy Row, and a pic of the Japanese embassy.

Garmin had since woken up, and directed me to take a right turn. Well, the turn was at the National Cathedral. Impressive looking place-lots of construction going on there.

I was sitting at a traffic light (and there are some long ones down there) and happened to glance over at the car next to me. It was a small car and I was kinda looking down into it. It was a red and white gingham dress with white lace on the hem and a pair of really hairy legs poking out. I thought “lady, you got some really hairy legs there” until I saw the muscular hairy forearm and then thought “dude, why are you wearing a dress?” Thankfully the light changed and I don’t think I suffered any permanent psychological scars.
Then, going through a small Maryland town one of Frederick County’s finest nailed me speeding. Funny thing is, I saw this guy yesterday and thought “that’s a pretty nice hiding place you got”. It was 42 in a 25, but it was as you were leaving town and the kind officer just gave me a written warning. Yup, I learned my lesson. I hadn’t had a run in with law enforcement since June 1986-guess at 1000 miles a week my time was due to get a reminder on watching the speed limit.
All in a days work:cool:
