Do you use the awesomeness that is FireFox? I love themes, and I stumbled upon this: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/4516/
Bible Fox!
A dove is the refresh button, the cross is the stop button, and the fish symbols are front and back. It's a nifty interface, I think. :D

Strangely enough, I think it's quite tasteful.
I expected it to be quite tacky.
I currently use IE.7.
I did try firefox, but between that and IE.7. I found little difference apart from strangely enough IE.7. worked quicker for me (though from the reviews I read it should be the opposite).

Honestly, I just don't hate Mircosoft enough to bother with these "alt software" programs. It's sort of like the people that bother running Linux only to find out that a bunch of software they need to use will only run on Windows so they have to shelf DOS and Windows anyway. Run fast, Vista will steal your soul and use it to power Bill Gates' house.

I started using Firefox when IE kept crashing on me for no reason. The only trouble I've ever had with it is that some sites (like orthodox tv) won't play video through it. IE will still crash if I mess with too many videos like that, regardless of how many updates I've downloaded.

No need to run fast. From all I've heard, a slow, ambling shuffle will suffice to keep you well ahead of Vista. :D I'd probably try it as my PC checked out on Micro$oft's Vista site as fully compatible but only if they had a free trial.
I used Firefox until IE7 went live because of tabbed browsing but now IE7 meets my needs.

Hehehehe
This is a 99.9% Bill Gates free area.
I use OSX , Firefox [ bless it , it works nicely for me ] , and I've even got rid of M$S Office [ I use Neo-Office ].
I don't usually bother with FireFox themes - btu I did install Tinsel Town for Christmas :D

I haven't used IE for a while, only really at uni where all the computers have a full suite of Microsoft products installed, which I suspect is more for financial reasons than anything else (Microsoft sponsors several programmes here). But really, the reason I haven't used IE is it's really not a good product. One shouldn't have to worry that every time he goes on the internet, his computer will be infected with spyware, viruses, tracking cookies, and a number of other malicious programs that are installed for no apparent reason. Sure, IE7 has tabbed browsing, and with Vista (hopefully) security will be better than with XP, but really, Firefox has had tabbed browsing for years - and is more secure than IE (6, at least), has a better plugin system, is faster, is open-source, actually displays pages the way they should look...
Can't go wrong with that.
Peace,
Nick

I got Firefox, and I wouldn't trade it for IE7. I've just never thought of switching even though IE7 got tabs. Firefox 2.0 has spell-checker, so I'm staying put cuz i cant speel.
IE7 does something weird to my university's websites anyway.

I'm one that runs Linux. Partly because I hate Microshaft, and partly because Linux does everything I want it to do, free... without pirating.
…That is, I would use Linux, if it were not for the fact that I am down to one useable computer, which I share with my wife and kids. I have IE7 and Firefox on it. I just seem to always gravitate back to Firefox as my preferred browser in pretty much any OS.
I do also have Linux… Currently Ubuntu, which I am going to replace with OpenSuSE asap. I also have Puppy Linux and DSL on my thumbdrive, so I can use Linux on almost any PC that can boot to USB.
OK, so I'm a geek. Sue me.

I use OpenOffice myself and had SuSE 10 (64bit) on a dual boot before I blew my computer last time. My PC is mostly an email/internet box and a gaming platform so I'm pretty much stuck with Windows for games.

If you're technically inclined open ended software like Linux has advantages. Then again that doesn't automatically mean you could live "windows free" depending on your software needs. For the vast majority of users Linux is overly technical, and just isn't idiot proof enough for a wide range of users. Even on the commerical end back when they were selling Red Hat, just no appeal to the average user.

Well, I'll out myself, so's you're not alone, but I do have to admit that I'm not a computer geek.

Soooo, does your Lunix run mp3's free? without pirating? they're called non-free media formats for a reason.
And why OpenSuSE over Ubuntu? just curious.
Anyways, I choose firefox over IE not because I dig alt apps or hate MS, it's just a better product. I've had to use IE occasionally over the past >10 yrs and I always want to switch to some other product because of its shortcomings. Unfortunately, that's not an option at work so I'm on IE for hours every day.

MP3 is nothing more than a compression format. According to Thomson's patent portfolio and licensing terms, no license of fees are required for private, non-commercial activities, as specifically related to the audio format itself. Individual encoders and players being distributed may or may not infringe on those patents, but Thomson has continually declined to enforce license fees on open source decoders. In any case, that would be an issue to be worked out between the developers/distributors and the patent holders, not the end user.

What it really comes down to, is I am just not particularly happy with Ubuntu. It is just a little too dumbed down and anemic for me. A typical Windows user would probably like it though. I use SLES and SLED at work, and am happy with them, and I used to work with SuSE before Novell bought it, and always liked it. I just want to give it a shot, and see if it lives up to what I remember of it in the earlier days. If this dosen't do it, I'll probably go back to Debian. Honestly, I probably should have just stuck with Debian in the first place... I'm just impatient, and like to try all the new distros, so I rarely have any one distro on my PC for more than a few months. If I spent more money on my PC, I'd have a bigger hdd and could have several distros on all at once, but I'm allergic to spending money when I don't have to. ;)
