Director James Cameron, who made the Titanic supposedly has found the burial chamber of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, Matthew, Joseph (supposed brother of Jesus), Judah (supposedly son of Jesus and Mary)

Just saw this on the news and got this article from a Google search, I don't know about the source itself or how neutral it is.

This kind of thing makes me sick, as many have pointed out, those were all common names 2000 years ago, and it was a rich tomb, however they weren't rich, and of course we not only have the holy scriptures, but also the Saints as well as historical record.

This has already been discussed in this thread:

From the guy that discovered it:

Considering the fact that Amos Kloner found the tomb, and was the archaeologist who actually did the research, I think this dismissal of the documentary is pretty important. He said this Saturday night in the Jerusalem Post:

But Bar-Ilan University Prof. Amos Kloner, the Jerusalem District archeologist who officially oversaw the work at the tomb in 1980 and has published detailed findings on its contents, on Saturday night dismissed the claims. "It makes a great story for a TV film," he told The Jerusalem Post. "But it's impossible. It's nonsense."

Kloner, who said he was interviewed for the new film but has not seen it, said the names found on the ossuaries were common, and the fact that such apparently resonant names had been found together was of no significance. He added that "Jesus son of Joseph" inscriptions had been found on several other ossuaries over the years.

"There is no likelihood that Jesus and his relatives had a family tomb," Kloner said. "They were a Galilee family with no ties in Jerusalem. The Talpiot tomb belonged to a middle-class family from the 1st century CE."

Satan is alive and well in Hollywood.

Some could be those "false Christs" that were spoken of in scripture.... because I know of one that was crucified... perhaps he claimed to be Jesus and they crucified him too... could be many explanations, even if they were true people with those names. Lots of followers may have named their children after them! Surface facts can be bent many ways.... many, many ways.

I would if I could remember where I got it. I think it was from Newsweek.

Take some of the quote and google for a prominent phrase (put it in quotes) - you should be able to find it that way.

I did and found this:

And ... this just in!!! Close examination of the cave in which the ossuaries were found disclosed this engraving:

I've been to Wild Bill's grave, actually I've been to three of them in three different states. It seems to me if we can't come to any real conclusions on where Wild Bill, who hasn't been dead for 200 years, proving that a grave from 2000 years ago belongs to Jesus is more than a bit of a reach.

The Apostles testified that Christ rose from the dead. If His bones really were in this coffin, all but two of them would have died for a lie. Nobody dies for what they know to be a lie. The early Christians who cracked under the tortures, renounced Christ and worshipped pagan gods never once admitted that Christ's resurrection was a lie.

Anyway, I thought Jews wrapped corpses in shrouds instead of burying them in coffins.

These are not coffins; they're ossuaries (bone boxes). The corpses are wrapped in shrouds. A year later, when the flesh has decomposed, the bones are put in an ossuary. That's what they have here.

As for your first argument, I agree. However, skeptics could argue that the stories of the Apostles' and martyrs' deaths were legends fabricated to support the faith.

I just watched a soundbite on this suppposed "discovery" on the news; the guy is supposing that Jesus was in a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene and had a son.

Seems like another Da Vinci Code to me.

Theologian/scholar Ben Witherington III sinks James Cameron's latest "discovery":

LOTS OF DISCUSSION in the Comments.

Theologian/scholar Darrell Bock weighs in, too:

one does get tired of the media going into a tizzy every time some idiot comes along with such manifestly baseless claims, and making pronouncements about how this could "rock the Christian faith." It would probably help if more people in the media had a real education of their own -- in some field other than how to look good on camera.

Coast to Coast (the crazy late-night radio show that interviews people who think they are aliens with a straight face) was even making fun of this last night.
