As a Christian I have been baffled by Scientology...I was in another forum, where they had initiated a thread on the topic after posting a link
(http://www.knover.com/Search/Scientology) (http://www.christianforums.com/) that searched for all notables associated to the word. Then after some heavy bashing of the religion (and its associations), no one seemed to have anything else to say.
It's like the only discussion around Scientology in most christian forums is really harsh. Has anyone else noticed this?
Though I don't really understand HOW one comes to believe those beliefs, I'm not here to judge. Just had to get that off of my chest.

Scientology is just another false religion. Nothing especially evil about it, any more than any other false religion - but nothing especially good about it either. It keeps people from God. I read a little about it when I was in college, twenty years ago.....
This is a pretty good summation of what scientology is about, from a fairly neutral source, it seems:

By posting this link I am in no way endorsing scientology or beliefnet.com - I am only showing where you can get some info about this particular false religion.

Another thing that is significant is that L Ron Hubbard, the founder of scientology was friends with Aleister Crowley, the satanist--Crowley called himself the beast and did sex rituals, etc. One thing L.Ron Hubbard did back in 1946 was he and another occultist(Jack Parsons, a Jet Propulsion Lab founder and rocket scientist who as a crator on hte moon named after him) did a sex and satanic ritual in the Mohave Desert with another woman. Their goal was to bring in the Babylonian harlot, and produce a moon child. It was called the babalon working, or something like that. I found it interesting that they did this the year before Roswell. I feel that this ritual made an openeing for the satanic ufos, 'grays, etc.

L. Ron Hubbard created this "religion" on a bet that he could do so and gather a following...he won his bet. This "religion" doesn't deserve even the tolerance of a pagan religion.

As it SHOULD be! I'm extremely harsh (depending on the forum I'm in) on false religions! They take people AWAY from truth and the true God...
I mean --- yes, we should be harsh against them.
But I think what you mean in your context is, they were attacking the religion as 'false', yet had little knowledge about the religion itself to make educated arguments against it?
Though I don't really understand HOW one comes to believe those beliefs, I'm not here to judge. Just had to get that off of my chest.
I DO judge what's false & all Christians "are here to judge" - that is, to use discernment in truth & error. If you can't spot the error, then how can you WITNESS to the truth of Jesus Christ?
Jesus told us, "you will KNOW them by their fruits". That is a direct call to make judgments on issues.
The information I have about Scientology comes from about 10 yrs ago when my husband and I moved to a new house. The people at that house must have been Scientologists becuz we started getting a ton of their materials & brochures to purchase from.
WIERD STUFF! to say the least. Here's how I viewed it, the more $$$$$$$$$$$$ you have, the higher up you get in that religion.
You had to buy some machine that you 'test' yourself with... the whole religion is in "levels". The higher up, the more $$$$$$$$ it costs.
You test yourself w/ this machine (which my understanding was, it's almost like a lie detector machine you hook yourself up to), & if you get to "clear", you move up to the next level.
As to the content of the materials you buy to study, I don't know what it was teaching... I just got the brochure & other materials - nothing about what it was actually teaching (YOU HAVE TO BUY THAT!). :help: :swoon: :sigh:
I didn't need to know anymore than that; just the format alone, anyone should have the sense to RUN from.

That's just like the illuminati political system, too. In order to run for president, you have to be a high degree mason. Also, most of the elite in big business, politics, etc are 33 degree masons.

I do notice things like this . I have come to expect this from christians . If they don't agree with something , most ( or all depending on the forum or environment ) will exagerate certain aspects that they feel that everyone else will be against and ignore or downplay anything interesting . They manipulate and play with others emotions to bring everything back to the elitism of christianity ( the "we are number one" idea ) instead of attempting to gain understanding of something different .
So , they won't have anything else to say for one of two reasons or both . One reason is that they want to make others believe a lie about whatever it is in the discussion in order to prevent their audience from researching the idea because that idea is a lie .
The other reason is that people know that christians would feel that you agree with something if you do not vilify it . Attempting to provide an understanding of something that they don't consider to be "christian" will almost automatically leave one open to attack by their fellow christians .

How pleasant & uplifting :holy: :)
Here's a good verse to keep in mind about our fellow family of God:
LOVE COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS.

Very good and mature post - you receive blessings .
It is a shame that we need to add extra explanations at the end to make sure people don't attack us for agreeing with something when only providing information .

I notice you slip in a "motive" to her explanation; which you cannot know (to make sure people don't attack us for agreeing w/ something)....
Maybe that wasn't her motive!
No, it's not a shame that we add explanations to make sure people don't think we're supporting a site or it's teachings/beliefs/info becuz this particular site has many false religions on it which can harm weaker or newer faith's in Christ.
Do we send vulnerable children into dangerous territory knowingly without any warning? I'd hope not.
We have to keep others in mind when we post links that have harmful content.
It's no shame, I commend her on the explanation. :amen:
& nice post too, btw.
