View Full Version : Garden of Eden - What might it have been like?

I hope this isn't off topic.

Every year at this time I wander through the heirloom seed websites/catalogs you know there must be 100's of types of tomatos alone... red, pink, purple, orange, white, brown, spicy, sweet, salty, fruity.... on and on. Not to mention all the other veggies/fruits with multiple varieties.... including fruit trees!

I can't help wonder what the Garden of Eden must have been like? Oh the view! It must have been something incredible to behold!!!!!!!!!!! The sight, smell, taste... the whole experience

With each fruit and vegetable comes so very many health benefits and all we get at the grocery store today is the same old 25-50 or so of the same old thing, day after day, that have been altered in some way to travel and keep well

We as a society don't even make use of the varieties we do have left

Is it any wonder that in such a technically advanced society we are plagued with so many illnesses? I can't help but wonder what we're missing out on.

God's original design must have been so perfect, so incredible just to look at, not to mention to taste, smell etc.

Spring is coming! Thank you Jesus

Heaven is gonna be so incredible! I wonder what we'll be doing during Christs 1000 year reign when He rebuilds the earth?

I hope to learn to garden and make use of some of what we've got left from that once magnificent garden.

Your thoughts?

Awwwww... NO WEEDS! I hadn't thought of that!

That would indeed be paradise

Why would weeds not exist? Sure they are a nuisance and a pain, and so are insects and other things that can damage plants. But are the weeds and insects themselves a product of sin that they didn't exist before the Fall? Just curiousity entertainting some thoughts...

A weed is only a weed if it is somewhere it is not helpful. In the rebuilt earth, with the lovely fields of what we consider weeds are in their correct place they will be awe inspiring. Most insects will be of no use as there will be no death, so no need to give the chemical compounds back to the earth.

God Bless

Well, I'm not totally sure what God will do with weeds, but I am pretty sure that His garden will be perfect

To me that means we won't be stepping on stickers or wading through stinging nettles to pick peaches ^_^

What a wonderful thought! Sometimes I think we get so envolved in what it's like here...we forget to think about the promise and what its going to be like there.

Thanks for reminding me!

See you there sister!

Thanks for the kind words Cris413. Sometimes the topics here get a little heavy. To me it's nice to step back and say... Lets admire God and His wonders. So many of His blessings are still here for us to enjoy. Thank you Jesus!

OK, I couldn't resist, check out these tomatos:

Or these carrots:

Here's a cool one
Queen Anne's Pocket Mellon
You don't eat them their ornamental and 2.5"-3" long. The ladies back in Queen Anne's day used to put them in their pockets for their perfume/fragrance.

God's Garden was COOL!!! I'm sure we only have a little bit of what was there in the beginning.

If I'm not supposed to be posting this kind of stuff in this forum please someone let me know because I could find no rules against it.

Kiwi's, strawberries...

You ever watch Dr. Kent Hovinds videos? A Japanese scientist took a cherry tomator plant and in some ways (can't remember how) tried to reproduce the preflood environment. The plant grew cherry tomatoes the size of softballs. Crrrrrrazy! The think was something like 15-20 feet tall.

Pretty cool!

My weeds comment came from part of the curse

"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. "

I didn't really plan on reading too much into this fellowship post.

Well, I'm not sure how green my thumb is either. I've planted 3 gardens, with regular seeds while I learn, I plan to get some heirloom fun stuff this year.

The first 2 yrs I planted my neighbors cows went through my fence and ruined the whole garden. One year I had a few things left, pumpkinds and zuchini. Last year I only grew a few things.

I'm just learning, but when I consider how cool the heirloom stuff we still have is the thought of what the Garden of Eden was like just leaves me in awe .

I am praying for a green thumb :-)

LOL, my garden space (here when we bought the house) has experienced it's fair share of that curse

Last year I put my goats in there to see if they could successfully do a weed kill and fertilize mission. Not sure that worked very well, I think they just fertilized and pruned my weeds making them healthy and strong ^_^ No doubt God's garden did not have this problem

That is the Awesomeness of God, He can use anything to his purpose. I praise Him and I am in total awe of his Love and Grace in revealing Himself to us.

16 goats, 10 to 12 bred, I think I lost track maybe only 9... it's almost kidding season, maybe half will have twins  sometimes I get triplets. That's my favorite time of year, they have spring loaded legs and love to play and be held.

Goats are fun to have around, but they need really really good fences or they'll drive you batty :tutu:

I praise God for my goats, they're a blessing and they've taught me a lot about myself and people in general. We need really good boundaries too, mischeif just comes naturally ^_^

I think the closest thing we have visually on earth today is the Amazon rain forest. It's a shame that 7,000 acres are clearcut every day. Most of our medicines come from rain forests...who knows how many unknown cures we have destroyed. Someday it will all be gone.

Having spent time in both the Amazon and African jungles I would think not. The jungles are built on death, they are not fertile land, The plant and animal life there has a terrible fight to survive. The Garden of Edan was built on life, much closer to what prairie grasslands are.
I don't believe God will suffer us to destroy what he has created, although I think it is incumbent upon us to ensure that we are good stewards of his creation.
It will be rebuilt in the 1000 year kingdom.

Rebuilding the earth! What an incredible concept, and undertaking only Christ could accomplish. It'll be so cool to witness!!!

I think Eden had a balanced ecosystem and no animals eating other animals to survive. I saw some video footage of an area in Mesopotamia, on a show where a guy went to many places of the bible. It didn't exactly look like an english garden. It was more open and flatter, some hills in the background, not a lot of trees.
Actually, it did look like it had once been a beautiful land. Now it looks more barren, as if it had been "abandoned."
