I challenge BigChrisFilm to a formal debate on the topic:
"Resolved: that all Roman Catholic doctrine comes from somewhere OTHER than the Bible."
Parameters as follows:
1) The topic of the debate.
Resolved: that all Roman Catholic doctrine comes from somewhere OTHER than the Bible.
2) The participants of the debate, and what positions they will argue.
BigChrisFilm will affirm and CaDan will oppose.
3) The scope of the debate.
The arguments and evidence for the debate will be focused on arguments from the Bible and Christian theology.
4) The length of the debate, in number of rounds.
4 rounds.
5) Whether statements will be made concurrently or in turns, and if the latter, who goes first.
In turns and BigChrisFilm will go first.
6) The maximum length of each statement.
3000 words.
7) The time limit between statements.
2 weeks.
8) The extent to which quotes and references from outside sources will be allowed.
Direct quotations are permitted only from the Bible and the Catechism. If other sources are used for an argument, then it can only be paraphrased.
9) The starting date of the debate.
Immediately (the opening post is due within 2 weeks of the debate thread being launched).
