Luthernut on this one I have to dissagree with you on closing the forum. I usually agree with 99% of what you say but not this time. We would lose a witness to the world and a means of fellowship with the unsaved.
Look at LQ, that is a wide open forum with hardly any rules and then seem to be able to monitor each other.
You can allways put a person on the "ignore" list if you don't want to see their posts. That's what I do and it sends a message to them that you don't care to hear from them or read their posts.

Do they know when you've put them on ignore? I've only used the feature once, but wasn't sure if they got a message or not. I assumed it did, since putting someone on the buddy list does. I'm still learning all the functions of this place.

That's an idea, but it doesn't change the fact that certain posts are meant to be direct challenges which can take a thread off course.

I have never used the "ignore" button. But from what I understand, from another forum I post on, if you have someone on ignore, you will not see their posts. If someone you have on "ignore" responds to one of your posts, I think they are notified that the person to whom they are responding will not see their response. I personally find it much more satisfying to just ignore someone without using this button. I, of course, tell them that I am ingoring them and will not respond to anything they write. When they post to me and see that I have ignored what they have said to me, it let's them know that there was nothing in their post that was deserving of a comment or a response by me.

Ignore lists are used for those people whose messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread.
If you add a person to your ignore list, that member will not be able to send you private messages.
Note: You cannot put moderators/administrators to your Ignore List.
You can add a CF member to your Ignore list by going to that member's profile and click on "Add XYZ to your Ignore List". Or you can go to your UserCP and click on "Buddy / Ignore List" under "Miscellenaeous" and enter the member's username into your "Ignore List" on the right side. Click "update Ignore list".
To remove a CF member from your Ignore list: go to your "Buddy / Ignore List" in your control panel. Select the member's username, press delete and click "update Ignore list".
