Hi everybody.
My husband and I have been attending a Lutheran church for a little while, and yesterday we had lunch with the pastor. It went really well and we really enjoyed talking with him about faith, church, etc. I feel really at home and accepted in this church and I feel like the ELCA is in general a denomination I feel really excited about and that I might even like to belong to at some point. So I guess this is the first time I'm posting this officially, but I think I might seriously want to think about becoming a Lutheran someday.
I also recently read a really good book about a Lutheran Minister (Barbara R. Rossing) (ELCA) and that made me really excited too. I'm happy about this, and I guess I just wanted to share. Thanks for letting me get my happiness out a little :)

By the way, which book is that? I read her book on the Rapture and liked it a lot!

That's the one, "The Rapture Exposed". I read Brian Mclaren's Book "The Secret Message of Jesus" and was really intrigued by the chapter on Revelation and wanted more, someone recommended "The Rapture Exposed" to me on CF actually.

If you are interested in the ELCA, I would suggest the Lutheran Handbook (http://www.augsburgfortress.org/store/item.jsp?clsid=170259&productgroupid=0&isbn=0806651792). It's some fairly light reading that tells you everything from what to bring to potluck to how to be a theologian of the cross.

I think you'd find it well worth the price.

I have that book - it is good and quite funny, too! I love how it mixes the important Lutheran doctrines and the fun Lutheran traditions. . .
