Today the pastor of the Lutheran church I go to in Dallas (King of Glory) retired after 35 years in the same church....they had the service at the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas....our church organist, Mary Preston, is the organist at the Symphony center and is world reknown, travelling and playing in Europe, etc.....needless to say, the music was amazing....
where she sits to play the organ is way up in the middle of that whole wall of pipes....

WOW!!! What a room! What was it like to hear a real pipe organ in a hall like that? The last time I heard a real pipe organ was at a pizza place in Gilbert, AZ called Organ Stop Pizza. I think you can see this pipe organ at www.organstoppizza.com (http://www.organstoppizza.com) or something. You can Google it. It's supposedly one of the largest pipe organs in the world, if not the largest. I know it's like comparing apples and oranges, but it was still amazing! :D

A glorius pipe organ being played by a very accomplished organist, I can hear it now. That had to be a wonderful service, celebrating the retirement of a 35 year servant in such a way.

What a wonderful gift to that pastor to say goodbye in such a beautiful way.
You know, the Concordia University in Irvine has a really spectacular organ in it's main chapel. The thing can practically blow you right out the windows (LOL). :D It's a beautiful instrument. They have an excellent organist, by the way.

I was just at the Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa AZ 2 weeks ago. I sat in the balcony and watched the concert. It was fabulous. I bought some CD's and gave them to friends when I got back.
THis one in Dallas makes my fingers itchy. Mel would love it to if she were just here.
