'Course, a lot do....
In the Pacific Southwest District of the LCMS (Southern California, Arizona and Clark County, Nevada) we see evidence of how diverse and very AMERICAN Lutheranism truely is.
A list of congregations of the District include:
African American: 12
African Immigrant: 7
Arabic: 1
Armenian: 1
Asian Indian: 2
Cambodian: 1
Chinese: 8
Filipino: 1
Cypsy: 1
Hispanic: 34
Indoesian: 2
Korean: 16
Native American: 2
Taiwanese: 1
Vietnamese: 3
The great majority of these congregations do not worship in English. BTW, I understand there is only one congregation that still worships in German - and only very rarely, not each Sunday.

Cool, but frankly I'm partial to blonde hair and blue eyes.
But you've experienced GOOD STUFF when you've been to a potluck at an Asian American church.

We have some hispanic congregations in the region where I live.

I don't think anyone was saying that. I know I expressed surprise at a congregation that identified themselves as Slovak and others have talked about their personal ethnic background and appearances that go with that.
Also, many Germans are brown haired and brown eyed. The Scandanavians tend to be blonde and blue eyed.
My district - Iowa West - has Hispanic ministries, Laotion and Sudanese. We have Pastor's who are Laotion and Sudanese. We also have a Pastor serving the inner city of Los Angeles where members are black and hispanic.
I have served on mission trips in Guatemala and Mexico where we had Pastors and other church workers native to those countries.
When my husband was at Seminary, he had a classmate that was from Papua New Guinea. My niece serves as a missionary in Taiwan.
Yes, we are a church that embraces everyone!

We do a lot with Bethlahem Lutheran, which is an inner-city predominately African American church. Their choir comes down and sings for us all the time.
Oh yea, I do have brown hair. Actually, today, it's red, but I'm hoping to change that in a few weeks.

But don't you find that you're hungry again an hour later? :P

You may know your Lutheranism but you need to work on your knowledge of folk music history. Dylan (Bob Dylan, that is) wrote The Times, They are a Changin', although it is true the PP and M covered it (In Concert album, 1964). :P
Well, what can you expect from an old ex-hippie! ;)

We had a pastors conference in Montreal a couple years ago. The congregation there is predominately Middle Eastern. The "pot luck" they had there was tremendous. Lots of Asian Indian, Iranian, Arabic cuisine.
I had to keep the water bottle handy, though! ;)

And some of us have little or no hair, and what is there is all gray... and our eyes are glassy. Can I still be Lutheran?
Our second service has a mix of African America, Hispanic, Caucasian, and Oriental.

Concerning no hair ... you would do well with the Armenian congregation.

this is true. When I was Lutheran I had blond hair and blue eyes. Now that I'm Anglican they changed back to brown.

i did not get to attend, but i hear there wasn't a dry eye in the house. :)

LOL - no that's because you became full of something else that I can't say because this is a family forum. I'll just have to remember to wear my hip waders when around you. ;) :D ^_^ :sorry:

My dds have blonde hair and blue eyes from my side of the family. I have ashe blonde hair, but dye it brown. I once took care of a lady who had blue hair and blue eyes; she dyed it and it always had a tint of blue to it:)

I remember, as a child, envying my father's blue-black hair. His mother was a sioux. When he died at forty-six, it had changed to a beautiful silver.
Mine is back-water brown and eyes the same colour. Or was. It's turning to a flat white. Now it's salt and... um, well... not pepper. Ah... maybe sugar and, um, chocolate???:o

I always had respect mixed with certain fear of blue-haired-ladies.
If they would tell me something, it would be nothing short of hearing Moses.
I wonder why ...
