So it's 10:45 AM on the Lord's Day, and I'm at home typing this post. Unfortunately snow has been falling all night, and it is next to impossible to drive, so I've had to miss church. Anyone else in the midwest have this predicament?

Yep. :) I couldn't have gone anyway because I have the flu, but the rest of the family tried to go and couldn't even get down the street to get on the highway because the snow was so deep. I hope someone comes to plow the roads soon. Maybe they could get there for tonight's service.

NW Indiana is pretty snowy this morning. I suppose I could have gone but I am also sick. So a little sick + a little snow = I didn't go.

Anyone else in the midwest have this predicament?Maybe its just that I remember all those years before I truly knew the Lord as my Savior, when I said "Aw, its too cold/hot/snowy/rainy/tired out, I'm not goin' to church this week," or maybe its just that I grew up on a farm in north Missouri when we still had real winters. Either way, I can't see staying home just because the weather was bad. It rained the day Jesus was crucified. He certaining didn't say, "Not today, folks, its too wet."

Not being judgmental here, I hope, but it amazes me all the churches in Kansas City that closed last weekend (yeah we had three inches of ice, two inches of sleet and a couple inches of snow -- so what?) and even this weekend, when all we got was a little snow. Our pastor figures, if he can get there, so can everyone else. Our doors are open regardless.

Oh trust me, if I could have gone to church today, I certainly would have (I go even when I have a cold, flu, or whatever). Especially since I don't see church as my opportunity for me to do a service to God, but rather as God's opportunity to do something for me. Indeed I feel bad when I don't go to church, and it is not a sense of guilt, but of starvation from the word of God. But here in Minnesota, it was so snowy that it would have been a bad idea to even take the car down the driveway.

Oh well, I guess that was God's will for this week...

we had light snow fall, with only a minimal ammount of accumulation, so we went.. on th way out the freezing rain had made things super icy, but we're very close to home, so it was not bad at all.

No snow, but lots of fog. I had to show for an 0800 flight today that landed at 1630. So, I missed all church activities today. We're having an exercise this week. We usually never fly on the weekends. I hate missing church.

Yeah, the freezing rain is always the worst. Of course back when I was in high school I looked forward to it, since it meant school cancellations! :D

My church is only 2 miles from home. Yup, there was that much snow.

Oh well, I guess that was God's will for this week...It is wiser to stay home than endanger yourself.

What I do when I stay home is try to have my own private church service,
like a family devotion time, or my own private devotion time.
Or I will at least listen to worship music for the time I would have spent at church.

There are also always sermons via the web. That's what we did. We actually are in a church search at the moment, but the one that we feel God may be leading us to is 30+ miles away. We had 6+ inches of snow and it was quite slick. We are praying for drier weather next Sunday that's for sure!!

We just left a bit earlier to make it on time and drove slower. Some numbskull passed me on the left, crossing a double yellow line right before a curve through downtown this morning. :swoon: So thankful the Lord has His angels watching over us!

It snowed here, and I actually made it to church, but, I was the only one that showed up, oh well, it was a nice ride and their was some good music on the radio and I got to keep the Italian sausage casserole all to myself!............

I'm not sure, but I'd estimate about 7 inches.

You ended up being alone! Sorry to hear that. I'm guessing you go to a smaller church?

I used to think that it was a positive term. Last year I was calling my friends from Bible study Jesus freaks, until someone said, "dude, why are you calling us Jesus freaks?" Oops. :D

You're not old enough to know that it was a derogatory term in the 70's and 80's!
Have a beautiful day!

I'm not sure, but I'd estimate about 7 inches. That's about what KC got Sunday, on top of a sheet of ice that covers much of the metro area from the previous weekend that has yet to melt (and if it doesn't warm up soon, may be with us on Good Friday) thereby making it extremely treacherous to drive ... yet we had 800 people in church Sunday.

I thought Minnesotans were TOUGH when it came to snow!

Relax, arunma, I'm yankin' your chain, and have been for two days. God bless you, and I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to go to church. You're a lot colder than we are this week, so 7" of snow is going to play havoc with traffic. Stay put! It's safer.

Yes, I know. But I needed it; now I really need to go to church next week. It is, however, a bit unfortunate that the snowstorm broke a perfect attendance record that I've been working on since January '06 (missed Christmas Day...can't remember why). I didn't even put that much into high school!

One of my daughters had a neighborhood kid call her a Jesus freak one time and she simply said "Thank You!". You gotta love it when they don't think for a minute that they should be offended by being called that!!

I've only missed church once because of the weather. It was several years ago . . . we didn't live where we do now. My ten-year-old was just a newborn baby at the time and I got her and my then-four-year-old loaded up in the car . . . and got stuck at the end of the driveway (husband was snoozing :sigh: ). The neighbor helped me out and then told me to go back in the house with these little ones and try again next Sunday. So I did.

(Secretly I was a little annoyed that I was all dressed up and nowhere to go).
