Even Science believes in the rapture!
I saw this book and was totally fascinating with how mainstream society has decided to embrace the concept of the rapture into there scientific terms. It happens to be a very smart book, full of numerous "scientific theories" but does not shy away from acknowledging the new and old testament.
The book is called Apocalypse 2012 by Lawrence Joseph and I highly recommend this book to anyone intestested in the rapture and modern society/science.
God bless,
Jayson

Then I'll put some money down for it not happening in 2012. Any amount at all.

Great Pascalian bet! If Apophys (sp?) does hit the earth, and the whole rapture bit, who's going to collect? If not, you win.
I've never bought into a date yet, precisely because He will come as "a thief in the night." However, it could happen tomorrow.

Hundreds of "rapture" guesses, hundreds of foolish failures, and they keep on trying... But the book royalties are great. There's a sucker born every minute. OOOh wait! The Mayan calander ends in 2012!

Hmm...I wasn't aware that science could comment on the spiritual.
Question: why has mainstream society bought into the idea that the end times have anything to do with death-by-meteor, plagues that can wipe out humanity, or gamma ray bursts (OK, that last one is more esoteric)? While the Bible is vague on precisely what will happen in the end times, it's pretty specific that our tribulation will have a spiritual basis rather than a physical one.

2012 is the end of the Mayan Calendar and there are many occultists in places of power in our world who are under under Satanic control, who love to use dates and symbols in harmony with their activities. So 2012, while it has no basis in Scripture as a date of any significance, could become a date of significance in terms of some new false-flag terrorist attack like 9-11 or some new major war escalation.

Precisely. I just need to find a rich man who's willing to shake on this.

The so-called "Bible code" also predicts the Apocalypse in 2012. But my personal opinion is that the Bible code is bunk, so that doesn't give me a second thought.

Ever wonder if the date might more acuratly predict the coming of the anti-christ, like his birth or something like that?
Personally, I don't care if it's 2012 or not, I just pray that my unsaved family and friends ARE saved by the time the rapture does happen.

Sorry for bringing up old threads, and I'm not a fundie, so sorry if I shouldn't be posting.
But just throwing it out there - I think people got 2012 stuck in their minds, which might lead to people believing they have the answer before they start trying to figure it out - which leads them to only focus on trying to prove what they think is right rather than being objective.
Even the Mayan descendants still alive said that the calendar ended because for their people they saw it as an end of an era. Not the end of the world.
The only one who truly knows is God.
