Hi All :)
I saw a post in a different area of the forum that really concerned me. (Message me if you'd like to see it for yourself)
Someone was telling a young believer that it was not necessary or Biblical to have to invite Christ into your life as savior  They used the pretence that "His work was completed on the cross and we dont have to do anything else" ...
I know this thinking is flawed, but need some scripture to back it up and can't find any! I know it's there, I just am not sure what to look for.
Do any of you have a scripture reference?
This is also a question another young person asked me, I sure would like to be able to explain this properly. I know I've learned this before, but it was so long ago I just can't seem to make any progress here. Racking my brain...:help:
Thank you

Perhaps you are looking for Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Inviting Christ into your life is just a collequillism for confessing with thy mouth and believing in your heart.

Sounds like Calvinist doctrine to me. Christ told us to preach the gospel because OUR work is not done. When our work is done, the Lord calls us home. Too many Christians are just too lazy and want to believe everyone just goes to heaven.

Actually TC it doesn't sound like Calvinism to me as much as it does universalism.

I'm not sure which is worse: that he would tell somebody this, or that I think I can actually see where he's going with it.

"Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

A Lutheran on CF once claimed that the "sinner's prayer" is unbiblical. He said believing in your heart is enough and saying the sinner's prayer is a work. I pointed out to him, however, that the Lutheran confession defines the salvation "process" as this: the sinner hears or reads that he's a sinner and headed for perdition, he then experiences a deep fear of God in his soul, he is then sorrowful for his sins, he then realizes that Jesus is his only hope. This realization results in his confession to God. I told him, "dude, that's the sinner's prayer in a nutshell". He seemed to agree since I put it like that.

Hey there, Mike. Have I "seen" you on KLF before?

It's a very liberal and very nasty message board.
I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone and, frankly, I don't even know why I've stayed there as long as I have.
Basically, if you stand up for sound doctrine and refuse to follow the personality cult of Steve Brown, you're not going to be welcome there.

Yep, that's you Mike. How's about we invite "lm", "gloryandroses" and company over here?:D
But then, Mike, we're more at home here in the "fundy" forum. Over on KLF, fundies, libs, and others are mixed in together and you know that oil and water just don't mix.

Between the profanity and the personal attacks, they'd be banned in about five minutes.
Let's keep this one just for whatever Christians may be left here.
