Phil. 2:5-8
5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature (http://www.christianforums.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=364#_ftn1) God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7 but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature (http://www.christianforums.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=364#_ftn2) of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
I have recently been studying the Kenosis. Christ while on earth Christ did many miracles. He lived a perfect life, and even knew the hearts of those around Him. The question is this: Did the acts of divinity come from Himself since He was God, or did He use none of them and gain His divine power from His relationship with the Father?
The second option seems more in line with His life as an example to us. If He was able to live such a life as a human, then how much more should we strive to emulate His example and not live such a defeated life. Many seem to think we that since we are not Christ, we cannot come close to this example. Without saying that we can reach the righteousness of Christ, how much more victorious could we live if we sought to improve our relationship with the Father and allow His power to give us this victory.
Just running some thoughts around looking for others who want to offer theirs and try and gain some insight on this.
