I have realized that the different Christian groups have different understandings of what it means to be born-again and to be saved.
I am not really sure how to word these questions, but I want to know which groups' understanding of being born-again is that Christ lives in them.
So, I am asking this in several of the different groups.
Do you believe that when you are born-again, Christ Himself as the Holy Spirit enters into your human spirit and dwells in you?
If so, do you experience Christ living within you and what is that experience like?
What do you believe God's purpose for man is?
Thank you.

If so, do you experience Christ living within you and what is that experience like?Normally, I don't feel anything, the charismatics are all for feelings but we shouldn't be, feelings/emotions are deceptive.

Yes ma'am, I do. Richard provided a good verse for that.
If so, do you experience Christ living within you and what is that experience like?
Yes. When I read the Bible and God is speaking to me, I just feel Him speaking to me.
What do you believe God's purpose for man is?
To love our neighbors, preach the gospel, and live for Him as much as we can.

Thank you Richard, for your reply. Those are wonderful verses.
I agree that experiencing Christ is not the same as emotional feeling.
That is why I had a difficult time wording my question.
But, to experience Christ is to know Him as He lives within you.
I believe that God's purpose is to magnify Christ through His believers.
Paul said "For me, to live is Christ."
We can live Christ.
How we can experience Christ is a mystery because He is unlimited yet we are limited.
It seems to me, from what I have learned on this board, that some Christian groups rely on outward rules and regulations because they do not understand that Christ really lives within us and we can actually experience Him.
Other groups seem to go too far in the opposite direction and rely on emotions and outward miracles and odd feelings and such.
I don't think either of those is living Christ.

Normally, I don't feel anything, the charismatics are all for feelings but we shouldn't be, feelings/emotions are deceptive.
The Lord created all of our emotions. To say that we shouldn't feel the presence of the Lord within us, moving our hearts and regenerating our spirits is unbiblical. Look at the psalms... look at how passionate David was. Look at our Lord while he walked with us in the flesh... how passionate He was. Have you ever read Lamentations?
Anything can be deceived. Your heart, your mind, the very members of your body can be decieved if you let them. Your emotions are no different. God created them, therefore they are a gift. He didn't make us all zombies. Praise His wonderful name!
How many times have you had a spiritual experience where you were literally in tears but at the same time joyful? I have, on numerous occasions. Sometimes those moments have come in deep prayer, sometimes in sincere worship... but I will never say that the "feelings" that I experienced where from Satan and that I was deceived, I give my Lord ALL of that glory!
Being born again means that the Holy Spirit, through the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has given you a new heart and a new mind, new eyes to see things and new ears to hear the truth... a new spirit. You are literally not the same person as you were and you'll never be the same again.
God's purposes for man are many. He made us for His good pleasure, He made us to work His will in the lives of others, He made us because He is sovereign and He is God! I thank my Lord, daily, for creating me. He didn't have to do that, He didn't have to think of me before the foundation of the world, He didn't have to give me ALL of the things, made in His image, that He did. He has truly blessed me and continually blesses me with His very presence in my life.
Thank you, Jesus, for coming into my life, for calling me, for giving me a new spirit kindled with your fire! Praised be your wonderful name!
In peace and grace,
-Genesis

Salvation is not an emotional change or experiential change. We do not always feel Christ within us. Expecting such results in a lot of issues as our emotions and feelings are fickle. I know Christ lives in me because I feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit in my life. I do not feel different than before I was saved, except that I have a joy and peace. God is so good! But, do not assume that a lack of joy or peace is a lack of salvation. God works differently in different people to affect different effects for His glory.
In Him,
Dave
