I have a part Siamese Greek yogurt-loving cat.

He absolutely hates canned cat food.

And he isn't very Orthodox because he demands a freshly baked Trader Joes Organic Buffalo Burger cooked in suculent juices with garlic even if it is a fast day.

Am I spoiling my elderly cat?

However the other day, he was eating the brocolli and carrots from my Chinese cooking veggie takeout.

Yes! :D

A yogurt-loving, broccoli and carrot-eating Greek/Siamese cat. Something about that just makes me smile.

I'm from the South. Cats 'round here can demand all day, but they're still getting Friskies.

Oh, he works for his keep.

He brought me a huge dead Norway Rat, many lizard tails, a few dead insects and an occasional taruntula. Sadly, he killed my pet toad that lived under our steps.

We would be wakened up around 2 am with a silent blump, squash, blump, squash, blump sound. And I would whisper to my husband, "Honey, I think we have an intruder." It turned out to be the toad looking for an early morning snack.

So, I pulled a trick.

I bought one of those pet toads made in China ... the ones with those large realistic glass eyes. The cat thought it was real. With its fur standing straight up, the cat kept batting it in the eye to see if it would move. This cat was persistent. He must have batted that plastic beastie about six times before he was convinced that it was a fake because those plastic eyes look so realistic.

I had (or rather, my Mom had) a cat once that enjoyed lima beans above all things.

Another cat that enjoyed beating up on the local dogs.

And a fearsome huntress of a cat that would catch rabbits bigger than she was. Oh, she loved to hunt! The other cat we had was big and black and looked scary, but he wouldn't have eaten a mouse if he found one in his food bowl.

I suspect that my parents' current cat, "Fang" has autism or something similar.

My cat is basically a large lump of fur that occasionally wakes up while I'm reading, attacks my feet and then runs away to find another place to rest from that hard work.

She has quite the attitude since I brought home the Boxer.

My current cat is a big orange shedding blob. I like him enough, but he isn't very sociable. The only time he seems to move is when he is hungry or has to pee.

I used to have a cat who I think had some form of kitty dwarfism. He was born when I was 15 and he has always been my favorite pet. Unfortunately, while I'm not sure.... I am afraid that he was eaten by a large bird (probably a hawk or eagle).

He had a average sized head, but even at 2 years old he was only about the size of a 3 month old kitten. He used to wait for me to get home from school and then would climb onto my shoulder and sit there perched the entire time I tended to the goat. I've never had a gentler tom. You could have probably picked him up by the tail and he would purr.

His daddy was a big tom cat with a head about the size of a cantalope. I've never seen a cat hunt like him. I saw him go into a hole after a groundhog once. He also drug what was left of a big old black snake home. It had to be at least 5 feet long.

Possibly, I'm not exactly sure what "cathead" biscuits are. Never heard of them, but we may have had them and called them something different.

Big old homemade biscuits that are as big as an old tomcat's head...

I just googled what they are, and I don't think I have have had them.

My kinfolk were more from the KY/TN hill areas. According to what I found those are from the MS delta area. I've had plenty of good big biscuits though. We used to roll our biscuits and cut them out with a drinking glass or mason jar (often the mason jar WAS a drinking glass :P )

You mean people don't use mason jars to drink out of???

I know we have five or six in the cabinet now. I have to drink my sweet tea out of one.

My kin are from there as well. From Red Boiling Springs Tn up to Hazard Ky. hey, we may be cuzzins! :D

My family roots are from Clay Co., TN and Monroe, Rockcastle, and Clay counties in KY. That's not too terribly far off from where yours are from.

I've got one side of the family that was still feuding and running moonshine as late as the 1940s.

Orthodoxy is a bit of culture shock to the family. When my grandmother was growing up there were only 2 Churches in the area. One was Baptist and the other one handled snakes. They're not sure what to think about my Church.

LOL

No, he wakes us up.

He likes only Greek yogurt, especially the FAGE brand.

He is a short haired cat, dark grey with white markings (opposite a Siamese) with a tuxedo look and so very dignified.

His mom was half Siamese, so he has the typical Siamese set of meows. He really talks with us.

I had a cat not a while ago. Her name was Kitty (ya, i know.. it's so creative), she didn't like canned food either.. but demanded pears and apples all day. It's what she loved!

That's crazy, I had a cat named Kitty once... of course, I went all out and named her Kitty Postrulio McSnugginsworth, but, to each their own. :D

LOL!

It's funny that Greek are known to be always late for everything.

I went to a Greek church recently for vespers and the schedual said vesper service starts at 5:30pm. Well, I arrived on time for the service.. but the Priest strolled in an hour and half later.

I have a tuxedo cat with the very distinctive tuxedo markings...so we named her Tux.

Only we spell it "Tucks" cause she's a pain in the

Your cat has good taste, but careful the regular strained FAGE yoghurt contains a lot of fat. When we make Tzatziki we use the 2%.

My 3 English Toy Spaniels (aka Brat Dogs) must be German then, because they LOVE beer and sausage. How un-Orthodox!?!? That, and Oliver will tell you he is infallible.

I have pics of my cats at orthodocircle if you want to go see.

My cats like human food and will actually sing for popcorn. I put the popcorn on either the stove or the microwave and no matter where the two of them have been sleeping they come running when the popping starts and they meow in a way that sounds like singing... one after another after another with no breaks. The two at once actually harmonize at moments.

The two of them eat almost as much popcorn as I do. They love it when I toss it to them and the one whose vision is still good will swat at it like a tennis ball. The other likes it to hit her gently so she can figure out where to find it. (she is paritally blind).

I consider them Orthodox Cats. Marina (I named her Marina over seven years ago before I ever heard of Orthodoxy) especially. When I put my scarf on and go to my prayer corner she stops making any noise usually but if not, when I say "It is prayer time." She lays down usually at my feet until the prayers are over then goes back to telling me what to do. (She owns me afterall and sometimes I don't act alike a cat bed as often as she wants me to.)

My cats also know the word "accident" and what it means. If something happens like they get stepped on or something falls over and hits them they get all indignant like I was punishing them for some bad behavior when they know they were being good. If you saw them you would know they really look put off. But if I say "accident" they immediately relax and often come and rub against my leg to say "ok, forgiven."
