I know that there are unclean foods and unclean things, but what happens if you accidentally ate something unclean? Do you have to perform purification? Like let's say you ate something and then found out it had pork in it, what would you have to do?

I know what I would have to do... but that's because I get sick almost immediately.
Most people I could think of that are religious wouldn't be put in a position to be contaminated.
It's one of the reasons we don't normally go out to eat unless we know it's a kosher restaurant, (and for those not rabbinic kosher) or we have people who know how to fix our food - and why we don't go to people's homes; instead we ask them to come to ours.
I can't eat so many things, and adding in the unclean with my already damaged body; not a good mix...!
Maybe someone more observant than I could give a better answer though.

Last week at our congregation, someone brought cherry pie that they bought. I was eating it and enjoying it until a man beside me said that he definitely tasted lard. Another woman agreed with him and we all immediately got rid of the pie! As far as purification goes, I just asked Abba to forgive me for not being more aware of what I was eating. I just assumed that everyone who brings food is aware of what they are buying. I can't take that for granted. This week I brought a kosher, organic cherry pie! :)

Do you know what Jews normally do? Is there a traditional purification or do you usually just ask God's forgiveness? Would it be a sin if you didn't know?

Like all things considered not in the Will of God, when we discover them in us, we ask for forgiveness, we repent of our lack of attention to the details and pray that the Lord will increase our spiritual discernement, that we may keep our body and spirit as He would have us. As to what style of outward behavior we choose to show inward dealing with the situation, I believe that is up to the Lord to indicate that which would suit us best. For one man, may need the allergic reaction, while another just needs the very thought to cause consternation. We are each called to step and walk in teh way the Lord leads, It is still a personal relationship with Him that dicates the variety of ways of imbedding in our minds the importance of the lesson, and the value of obedience to His Word.

Repentance is all that is needed, and trying to be more aware next time.
No Jew does pentance, unless they are converted. :)

A congregation I use to go to would always have people that brought unclean foods in.
One time a guy brought in a large pot of pork and beans. When I told him that we don’t eat pork. He took a spoon and fished all the pork out. Then told me that it was OK now.
Another time another guy brought in 3 large pepperoni={mad from pork) Pizzas. When I told this guy we don’t eat pork, he took all the pepperonis off.
We had a young man come in wearing his Tallit like a scarf. I told him that that was not the way to were a Tallit and it could be viewed as showing disrespect to something that is to be used for prayer. His responds: I haven’t been led by the Holy
Spirit that it was wrong.
Another time we had an older man leave the congregation to go buy some food from the grocery store, [he forgot to bring something] he was wearing his Tallit, when someone told him he had his Tallit on he wrapped it around his neck like a scarf and drove off. A few min latter he return with the Tallit still around his neck, and a bag full of groceries in his arms.

Yes! Jewish People who believe in Messiah Yeshua but also Gentiles.

It is not “our” teaching, it is G-ds teaching, and in the beginning all believers were Messianic
Messianic Jews & Messianic Gentiles, you don’t become a Jew. Just as it is here in this MJ forum. The Church divorced itself from its Hebrew roots [Messianic] about 300 years AD, for many reasons. In the beginning Messianic were a sect of Judaism.
Have a wonderful day.

I am soooooo glad you posted this!
I have a wonderful opportunity to teach on Tallit's this Friday at a large Baptist church. They got quite interested in them and some started wearing them but they knew something was not right so we got this opportunity. I guess some large TBN ministries are now pushing "prayer Shawls"
Anyways we are going to do a regular Erev Shabbat service and the people there are really excited about all of it. One of the things I do talk about in this teaching I do is that these are special and sanctified and have real meaning and missuse can cause real offense. I plan on using your two examples now cause they are PERFECT!
Blessings

P_G, I know this is an aside; but when you've made this teaching available, can you point me in the direction of it so I can listen too?
Todah! :)
