Genesis 24:67 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=1&chapter=24&verse=67&version=31&context=verse)
Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

Who was in the tent? It was his mothers but his mother had already passed by the time he went in and married Rebekah. Or is it that he didn't marry her in the tent but just went into the tent? If that is the senario then why is it mentioned?

61 Then Rebekah and her maids arose, and they rode on the camels and followed the man. So the servant took Rebekah and departed.
62 Now Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he dwelt in the South. 63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming. 64 Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel; 65 for she had said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?”
The servant said, “It is my master.” So she took a veil and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. 67 Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent; and he "TOOK" Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

no one was in the tent, it was his mother's tent. The word "TOOK" is in the KJV that could mean (sex)

That is exactly what I thought! I read the entire chapter along with the preceding and following ones more times than I can count but couldn't get anyone to solidly asnwer that.

So, if there was no one in the tent, sex made their marriage?

According to Strong's, here is what the word "took" means...

H3947
לקח
lâqach
law-kakh'
A primitive root; to take (in the widest variety of applications): - accept, bring, buy, carry away, drawn, fetch, get, infold, X many, mingle, place, receive (-ing), reserve, seize, send for, take (away, -ing, up), use, win.

Thank you for the defenitions.
So if Isaac took (using any of the defenitions) Rebekah into an empty tent and came out married, what happened in the tent that made them married?

So if Isaac took (using any of the defenitions) Rebekah into an empty tent and came out married, what happened in the tent that made them married?

Well, as far as I know, the covenant of marriage was made when Abraham's servant went and asked Rebekah's father and brother if she could marry Isaac. They said yes, and then she agreed to marry Isaac, and accepted gifts from Abraham's servant as a symbol of this agreement. From then they were betrothed, and in those days and that culture, betrothal was seen as being as binding as marriage, so in other words once they were betrothed they were seen as husband and wife even before they had sex. So I guess if there was no one else in the tent, their having sex would be the consummation of the covenant that had already been made.

That's just my thoughts at the moment. Don't know if it's the absolute truth but it's just that I'm thinking along those lines...
