I watched Episode Two again, last night, and I see an amazing connection with how darkness operates. For example, how Darth Sidius always betrays an apprentice, for a new one. Here's some Yoda, for you.http://www.yoda.ws/yodabigpic.jpeg

Sidious was always working toward Vader. He knew the prophecy, and knew what was going to happen.

It's the way of the Sith for a student to betray his master. So at the end of Jedi Darth Vader turns on his master the way all true Sith do. The funny thing is that betrayal brings him back to the light side of the Force. LOL

Truth.

But the typical pattern is for the student to betray the master to assume his role, not because he has been redeemed by the love of his son. Or a George Lucas script. Whichever. ;)

Yeah I know, which was why I guess I always had an "issue" with the way this particular betrayal played out. Do you ever find yourself feeling sorry for Anakin/Vader?

Anakin/Vader was victim of circumstances.

Star Wars is the greatest love story ever told. Sorry guys, it's a love story. The love of a woman will make a man do some spectacular things.

Thinking about it, love was the reason for the fall of the republic. Love of the Senate and Palpatine lead to the Empire, and Anikan's love for Padme made him Darth Vader

Definitely. If you read the novel of EP. III, it's much more intense, and you can actually see him wrestling with the choices and doubts. You empathize with him even more.

I don't know what it means, but I certainly caught the reference to the planet's name. Does it have a "real world" meaning?

Unfortunately, I haven't been on Y! for a while. We can't use it at work anymore, and we don't have the 'net at home, so I mostly use it for email now.

I didn't even know there was a Star Wars RPG on here. ^_^ My wife is more of an RPGer than I am, but she'll probably be interested in that. Is it in the RPG section?

ONE of them. What about Arwen and Aragorn in LOTR? Give up immortality to be with a mortal?

Sorry guys, it's a love story. The love of a woman will make a man do some spectacular things.

Yes it is, and I know the second part to be true as well. Women will also do some spectacular things for men they love. It's not all one sided. Ask my wife! :)

But can't all things be forgiven? IMHOSure. Saul of Tarsus murdered, by dragging Christians off to their deaths, yet later became Paul the apostle. Regarding Anakin, I wanted to point out that he embraced the dark side. Although perhaps not fully, because of his later redemption. Hmmm. Yet perhaps that wouldn't happen in real life, or maybe he thought he had enough reasons to do so, after all, he was lured by the thought of bringing the dead back to life.http://simonz.web.elte.hu/wallp/obi-ani-mustafar.jpg

Like I said earlier, if you're even a luke-warm Star Wars fan, read the novel for EP III, even if you borrow it from the library. Matthew Stover is a GREAT character writer and you really feel sorry for Anakin more than anything. You can totally understand why he does what he does. Not to condone it, but he makes it very human and tragic, not terrible.

I read the book, I have a First Edition Hard Bound Copy, it is WAY better than the movie! I was crying at the end of it!

Is it autographed like mine? ;) We've been lucky enough to have several of the SW authors come through the near area doing signings. Zahn, Stover, Luceno, etc. Stover's work in Shatterpoint is good too. Mace's view of the Clone Wars on his home planet. Very stoic/angst-y. Traitor from the NJO series is another good one about the breaking of a Jedi.

If you haven't seen it before, and I'd find that hard to believe, you have GOT to watch this spoof that Robot Chicken did on what happened after the first Death Star was destroyed. This makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.

Personally I perfer the Expanded Universe (everything in a book that wasn't in the movies) except for the most recent books. The character development that happens after RoTJ is far better than anything Lucas came up with, but you have to give the man props for starting the story. I agree with the assessment that in the end, the movies are really just a love story.

Also, it seems that to him, there was little hope, anywhere else.I find a similar situation in Lord Of The Rings, where king Denethor saw no hope in battling The Dark Lord.....................................................http://www.thejawa.com/joseph/Misc/vadergg01.jpg

I agree with the assessment that in the end, the movies are really just a love story.Sounds great.I love imagination. One thing though, is that sometimes the parts of the stories made up in the books, don't turn out to be accurate. For instance, in the books, I read about Darth-Vader (Anakin) originally being injured by some kind of machine with molten metal, yet in the movie, he gets crippled at the volcano.
I also feel it's not truly a love story, because one or both of them turned to the dark side, yet it's like you want them to fall in love, and live happy Christ-filled lives. What's different about their love-story and Arwen and Aragorn in The Lord Of the Rings, is that while beautiful in the movies, one only reads vaguely about their love in an appendix at the end of all of the books.Anyways, that's a real love story.

Hmmm. I found the clip good in effects, yet somewhat lame in content. It was funny, yet imo went on too long. Here's one for you http://www.storewars.org/flash/index.html I'd like to try a star wars role playing game.I'm used to the D&D kind of rpg, that has a dm, and uses dice, but I'm open to suggestions. Every time I watch one of the newer episodes, I really realize just how much Darth Sidius really has his claws in everything.

Well, the old West End Games series was very good, but the newer WoTC series is much more detailed and intepth. I'd feel confident reccommending both. I think Wizards is overhauling the rules for theirs to coincide wiht the 30th anniversary this year, but I'm not positive.

The prophecy said that he would bring balance to the force. By killing Sidious he did just that.

Maybe, just like it is with our God, they didnt understand how the prophecy was going to be filled. It may not make sense but in the end the master plan was done.

Does anyone have a good link to a good Star Wars rpg site? Also, one could say that, although his motives were bad, Judas brought balance to the force, in other words, helped out in God's master plan.

As a matter of fact, I do have a link. Know before you follow it though that all the members on the board are serious RPGers and the mods can be stickly about things. The general idea of the board is for you to build the character up from scratch more or less. For example, your character cannot start off a Jedi Knight or a Jedi Master or a Moff in the Imperial Navy or anything of that sort. You have to start a character and develop them just as you would if you were writing their story from scratch. Also, no canon characters. But you'd read that in the FAQ and Rules anyways. The site address is www dot sw-fans dot net.
