Greetings. There is alot to be said about the virtue of humility regarding Christians comments on message boards. I'm going to slooooowly ease into this as I'm a newcomer here. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. If a professed Christian is "blunt" and not compassionate, I.E. holier than thou, condescending, arrogant, prideful, boastful, you must be as perfect as I am. etc. This does not help new believers in the faith. I'f anyone has 1 sin since birth they are not worthy of life everlasting with our LORD. We are all unworthy! Our salvation is by "grace" and not of anything we can do to be "perfect".
I am unworthy, and ALL are unworthy of the mercy and grace and love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Yes, we should always strive to be more like HIM in every way. But please, let no one boast and say, "You must be as perfect as me". There is only "ONE" who is without sin.
Thank you for this forum. May GOD'S blessings be with you all.
Happy New Year

Excellent point! Humility is becoming a lost Christian art.
Some scriptures to consider:

Humilty

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Proverbs 11:2 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=24&chapter=11&verse=2&version=31&context=verse)
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 18:12 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=24&chapter=18&verse=12&version=31&context=verse)
Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

Ecclesiastes 7:8
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.

Philippians 2:1 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=57&chapter=2&verse=1&version=31&context=verse) Imitating Christ's Humility
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others[ Imitating Christ's Humility ] If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

1 Peter 3:8 (http://bible.gospelcom.net/passage/?book_id=67&chapter=3&verse=8&version=31&context=verse)
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

Colossians 3:12 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=58&chapter=3&verse=12&version=31&context=verse)
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Titus 3:2 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=63&chapter=3&verse=2&version=31&context=verse)
to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
James 3:13 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=66&chapter=3&verse=13&version=31&context=verse)
[ Two Kinds of Wisdom ] Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
James 3:12-14 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=66&chapter=3&verse=12&end_verse=14&version=31&context=context) (in Context) James 3 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=66&chapter=3&version=31&context=chapter) (Whole Chapter)
1 Peter 5:5 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=67&chapter=5&verse=5&version=31&context=verse)
Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
Matthew 11:29 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=11&verse=29&version=31&context=verse)
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 18:4 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=18&verse=4&version=31&context=verse)
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

"God makes war against the arrogant, but gives grace to the humble" (True humility is objectivity and teachability)...Also James 4:6 & 1 Pet 5:5

Shut up!

No, i'm kidding. :P

But honestly...you won't find a lot of humility on a board where so many liberal christians think they are right and so many other Christians want to "share their mass amount of knowledge"

It's sad...but it's true. This place tends to bring out the worst in people....or maybe it's their true identity when they are not happy, flowery at church?

hmmmm...

I know what you mean. Your post caused me to LOL. :P
It's refreshing to hear such a candid view. I try to stay fairly centered in my opinion regarding liberal Christian this and conservative Christian that. Differing positions make us more interesting, no? Really my point with this message is to try and convey the importance of "gentle" persuasion versus the hammer approach. I completely understand the hammer type. Usually they are relatively new, (a few years or so), to their faith. And in their zeal to tell the world how wonderful their conversion and eye opening experience with the LORD is they come on too strong. The messenger is sincere in trying to get across the good news but the message is delivered in an inappropriate fashion. To new Christians it's not only unhelpful but can be a setback to their growth. To lifelong people of faith who have walked the walk for 20, 30, 40 or more years we understand their heart and intentions are in the right place.
Me thinks the LORD knows what is genuine in the hearts of us all regarding our love and acceptance of HIM. Be it liberal, conservative or "ones who want to share their vast amount of knowledge". :)
