Was just passing thru the neighborhood and saw the lights on in your kitchen, Seajoy. So very glad to see you're back. Thanks again for the prayer.
I'm very glad to hear that you've dodged the surgery bullet. Be careful with the pain killers though.
Sometimes we all go through the desert experiance. Sometimes it seems that I'm being backed further into the corner and all lines of communication cut off, further isolating me. But just when all the doors and windows are boarded up by the evil one, another appears. Like this forum. Like... you, Seajoy. Thanks for being there.

Wow, S-clunker! Such kind words. I'm glad I can be of help.
Yes, our Lord knows how much we can handle. He is good and merciful.
About the pain killers...I have fibromyalgia, and I take pain meds everyday. Not vicodin everyday, though. I take celebrex and cymbalta everyday without fail. I ran out of celebrex for 2 days last week, and could barely get out of bed.
How are things going for you? Moving plans? job? I've been wondering about it.
Oh, and could you pour today? My shoulder hurts. :)

I'm not sure about what was the problem with mom and baby. Mom got a fever during labor. Mom should get released today, but baby has to stay in hospital. She's on another drug...prayers are needed. She's still in the NICU.

Congrats on the grandniece, am prayting she gets to come home soon.
Glad to hear the shoulder does not need surgery, that had to be a bit of a relief.
Yeah, I thought that since we were in the middle of an ice storm/blizzard I should get more comfortable. Trying to decide if I am going to town this noon. Have another round of bad weather coming in tomorrow night. This last one knocked power out. We had a generator running during the day though. At least we could have heat and hot food. If we turned too much on, it really had to work though.

Our Lords blessings and assistance with your shoulder, Seajoy. May he give you the strength to cope, and the healing with which to deal with it. But over all, the grace of his spirit.
To answer your questions, not well. I may lose my phone service today. The only way I'll be able to continue it will be to authorize a withdrawl from my bank account, overdrafting it even more. My landlord is demanding that I pay rent on Friday, and I don't know where I'll get it. If just a few of these cars would sell, along with my trailer, things would be much easier. Sigh... so many things, so little money.
Oh, Lord, my faith is weak. Help my faith.:crossrc:
Well, with those (sorry:sorry: ) sunny and upbeat thoughts... Ah! The kettle is singing. Anyone for a cuppa? I thought perhaps a pot of Plantation Mint today? There's a plate of Mum's Almond Cresents (her recipie, I baked the biscuits) and some packets of Swiss Miss as well.;) You know, I have a bit of fruit cake here as well. Used Blackberry Brandy this time and it's a change that just might stay.

I'm glad to hear you won't be needing surgery. If this is going to be a while in healing ask your Doc about a TENS unit. It beats pain pills. Years ago I wore 3 of them at the same time. They gave me the only relief I could get. Vicodon become like cool aide after a while, I know from experience. :prayer:

How's the weather? Well, we are preparing for rounds 2 and 3. Suppose to get more snow, sleet, freezing rain, snow this week. There are still people in the state without power who are being told to get to shelters before the next round.
There were around 190,000 without power at one point last weekend. It is about half of that now.
Now, there is beauty in all this. Really made the scenery like a winter wonderland.

Right now the villiage of Lewiston looks like crystal gilded with silver. Just before the sun went down the temperature dropped fifteen or twenty degrees and it froze all the snow. It is beautiful. It's also a pain in the... um,wazoo.
I had to go to town to withdraw sufficient money for groceries and gas. Good news is that the 55 year old carb that I put in my truck has dramatically improved it's fuel economy and performance. Go figure. The bad news is that gas is 3.09 here in Lewiston. By Friday I'll be, well, in deeper.:sigh: :help:
It's been snowing all day, rather heavily. Guess what's coming your way kiddies?;) It was kind of fun driving around in it. No, (LOL) seriously! I put a blanket over the grille on the truck and it kept the engine nice and toasty. The truck is cold-blooded. I think Studebakers are reptiles. Anyway... Here's all these people running around in their hi-tech SUVs, sliding off the road (we had three go turtle in Lewiston this morning), spinning out, crashing into each other, and I just go putting by in my 45 year old Stude. Sometimes I roll the window down and give 'em the 'hang loose' (not that finger:o , the thumb and pinkie!), as they go roaring past. It's so beautiful here, year round, why hurry?
The problem came when I got home. Yes, you guessed it. The driveway designed by Lucifer Metastapholies. Fortuneately, another thing Studes do well is lugging. Just let it putt up the driveway and pray, pray, pray, whilst the wheels spin and slide around in the slush and mud. Sheesh!
But, um, it is pretty...
By the by, thank you all for your prayers. If anyone can pull my chestnuts out of the fire, it's got to be the Lord. I've no idea what to do. Thanks again.

We DO want them in church so they can see that their sins are indeed in need of forgiveness, but they need to acknowledge and accept responsibility for them first. We are to hate the sin, not the sinner.

Yeah, that thread did take a wrong turn.
There were some personalities conflicting there, but I do not think it took a wrong turn at all.
Sometimes the Law has to be applied. People don't like the fact that they are sinners and that their sin is not pleasing to God. It's the "not-so-fun" aspect of being a professing Christian. But once they realize their sin, then the Gospel comes out, and that is the fun part.
There are a couple people in that thread currently that have a long history on other boards. Once they get past the heat, I think the discussion will continue.

I know I am wretched and unclean from the fall AND my own poor choices that are contrary to God's commands, but I am forgiven upon repentance. I do not believe that a truly repentant homosexual is still homosexual. If he or she is truly repentant, they will want to lead a lifestyle that is pleasing to God according to His will, and that is heterosexuality.
I do not buy into the ultra-liberal mumbo-jumbo that says homosexuals cannot be cured from their affliction. If they want to bad enough, they can. It has been done countless times.

About 20 years ago I worked with a man who was found to be taking part in openly public gay acts. There were a number of local citizens caught in a city park in broad daylight. What is worse is they were coaxing young teen age boys to join them in the fun. Of couse all were arrested and prosecuted. The surpise is who all was taking part.
This man who I worked with was happily married and had children of his own. His family supported him through all the public humilation and he repented. So, I too support your belief Rev. God's works are beyond human understanding and He alone can bring about complete repentance.

Homosexuality is not genetic at all. The proof-in-the-pudding is the study of identical twins... one gay, one normal. How could that possibly be genitic? Answer: It's not genetic.
I will concede that, as some have indicated, the sex drive can be adversely affected by a chemical/hormonal imbalance in the system. But this, as with any physical affliction, can be treated. And many have been successfully treated.

I know. Look at how much of this acceptance as an alternate lifestyle is being presented to our children. Society made sex before marriage seem a right of passage for all teenagers, so why not give them options to exercise it? It's truly disgusting, but that's our burden to bear being part of the world.

The whole child raising thing is a total lack of dicipline and morals on our part. :sigh:
With all the garbage we get on TV and at every turn of life we are conastantly faced with temptations. Mom's and Dad's are busy and don't spend as much time with their off spring as they should. They forget that teaching them good values is more important then buying them the latest fashions or plazma TV.
I highly applaud the parents who unselfishly teach their kids and make sacrifices to give these things to them. I know that its even harder for single parents. Praise God for your love and devotion.
Its really scary what things will be like in another few decades.
But even more importantly is where is the church life and bible study? Where is the need to take them to church and not just send them on a bus or let the neighbor take them. Kids learn from watching, and its us who they watch.

My memory is notoriously unreliable. Still, I'm going to take a chance here. There was a resercher at, I think, Johns Hopkins (sp) University who did the study you have mentioned, Revrand. He set out to prove that Homosexual men were different from other men. The intention was to prove that Homosexuality was a condition that exsisted from birth. Well, he did so. The problem was that during the study, he found that the condition could be reversed permanantly!! He found that Homosexuality was caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that was easily corrected. This Homosexual resercher actually proved what he had been told for years; that he was abnormal and needed to be treated for that abnormality. I was actually given copies of this paper some years ago and have long since disposed of them. Why is it I have all this cra... um... junk around and tossed a good item of source material. Oi, vay!:sigh: Truely proof of the packrat's credo; 'Don't throw it out! You will need it some day.'
On a lighter note; I went to the only full-sized grocery store in Trinity county yesterday, Tops in Weaverville. They usually have a dismal array of real tea and this huge selection of herbals. Well surprise Surprise! They had my favourite (Oh, Boy, Oh boy, Oh boy...)! Raspberry Royale by Bieglows. They even had a economy sized box of Constant Comment. Don't like that as often, but it's better than most. I really don't like shopping at that store. It's too expensive and a Yuppie store. Everything fancy and exhorbently expensive. Gosh I miss Stater Brother's market.
Anyone for a cuppa? I'll be mother!;)

I like tea. I normally drink about 8-10 cups a day. I had to give up coffee a little over a year ago, so I switched to tea. I usually just drink the cheap stuff but have found differences even in that. I always put honey in it and as soon as I can remember I want to get some cinnamin to add.
As for the study on homesexuals, interesting, but I don't buy it, as it is saying that God is the fall guy and we know thats not correct.

Jim this is why I indulge in Cinnamon and Turmeric.
The Spices of Life
Turmeric A traditional Indian spice, has shown great promise as an anti-carcinogen (non-cancer causing), specifically protecting from oral, colon and breast cancer. In India it's long been used for digestive disorders and inflammatory conditions. But now it's thought that the low incidence of neurological disease in India may be attributed to this pungent, golden spice. Turmeric inhibits the passage of a type of sticky white blood cell called a macrophage into the brain from the blood. Moreover it blocks a protein called MMP-9 and the molecule, TNF, both responsible for the destruction of the myelin sheath (protective nerve coating) as occurs in Multiple Sclerosis. A five year study recently reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that folic acid and B12 do not protect against cognitive decline as long hoped (low levels appear to be a consequence not a cause) the findings on turmeric are important to anyone looking to ward off dementia.
Sprinkle the aromatic spice on fish, soups and meats or blend with melted butter and drizzle over cooked vegetables, pasta or potatoes along with some pepper. Piperine, a component of black pepper, increases the bio-availability of the beneficial compound found in Turmeric. For those who find turmeric too bitter, it can be purchased in capsule form, but should be avoided by anyone suffering from jaundice or gallstones.
Cinnamon Chinese medicine has long touted cinnamon as a treatment for impotency and infertility, says licensed acupuncturist and herbalist Kristen Burris. Like turmeric, cinnamon has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, but unlike turmeric, cinnamon is also being studied in the prevention of diabetes. Six months ago a study done in Maryland by the FDA discovered by accident that cinnamon prevents blood sugar levels from spiking when test subjects who'd consumed apple pie laced with cinnamon had much lower glucose levels than expected. And unlike Nutmeg, which also has anti-inflammatory properties but can affect the nervous system in large amounts, causing hallucinations, cinnamon may be consumed without caveat.

Tea is on my list of things to avoid now. I have an allergy to nickel. Even my eyeglasses have to be nickel free!! Well, I found a list of foods that are high in nickel and you know what? Those are the same foods I've slowly been eliminating from my diet over the past few years because I've discovered they bother me badly! Weird. Chocolate (WAH!), nuts, raisins, beans, oats, tea....and more...these are foods that are high in nickel. I can't eliminate all nickel from my diet as even water contains nickel.
Jim, why did you have to stop drinking coffee? Did it bother your stomach or something? There is a new folgers that is gentle on the stomach :)

I like tea. I normally drink about 8-10 cups a day. I had to give up coffee a little over a year ago, so I switched to tea. I usually just drink the cheap stuff but have found differences even in that. I always put honey in it and as soon as I can remember I want to get some cinnamin to add.
I love hot tea as well! :D

How did you find out you were allergic to nickel? What were the symptoms?
It started with me the way it starts with most people...infected pierced ears.
I have to be very careful with what I wear next to my skin (jewelry, belt buckles, glasses, etc...). What happens is I break out in welts and it's very itchy and painful. Things that are marked hypoallergenic are not nickel free as I've discovered! I need to have things specifically labeled as nickel-free.
I've even had a watch that had only one tiny piece of metal on the band that had nickel in it that caused a welt...one tiny piece. Sometimes I put clear nail polish over certain things to help protect my skin, but it wears through fast.

By Da Rev:
So because you have disposed of this report, it has now become hearsay at least as far as this forum is concerned. We have no way of determining whether the study was objective or subjective.
We need objectivity in the study. However, I doubt you will ever truly find a study of this nature that is not subjective to some degree. Since you no longer have this paper, it is difficult to be polemical or corraborative with its findings.

Jim, your comment is interesting. I will research the article and see if another copy is available. My intention was the opposite of what you stated though. Hmm, I never knew I was eating a high nickel diet :) Sorry to hear that you have this, I'm sure it must be a pain, but at least you can live around it.
I had to give up most coffee drinking because I am a chronic imsomniac. I've come a long ways but still have problems on average 1-2 days a week. Before I would go up to 4 days without sleep. I got so dragged out a couple of years ago that I couldn't talk anymore, of course my wife enjoyed that ;) As soon as I quit drinking coffee I started sleeping again. Now the main thing that bothers me is if I stay up to late and get over tired, I won't sleep at all on those nights and it may take me a few days to get back into full sleep again.
Now, aren't you sorry you asked? :D

Porter, you sound like my youngest daughter. That fellow of yours, if he has any brains, had better snag you soon or he'll regret it.
Jim, there's nothing to forgive. I obviously didn't make my point clear. Also, not having the original report (mad at myself here for tossing it:mad: ) made any clairity more difficult. But, yes, the individual did prove that people were born with the tendency to this imbalance. The key was that it can be corrected.
Seajoy, much of the tiredness you feel is from all those painkillers. They are causing your system to work twice as hard as it normally would. Like Jim said, just take it one day at a time. Small steps, and goals.
Oh! I almost forgot. I have a friend whom I'm concerned about. I saw her last on Friday afternoon. She pervailed upon me to take a piece of furnature home for her and she would pick it up later. I haven't heard from her since. After leaving several messages and getting no call back for two days, I finally called her church. They haven't seen or heard from her since Sunday afternoon. It's probably not serious, I'm a natural worry-wart. Still, it's not like her, not at all. Pray for Paula for me, Please?
Also, I've had an offer on my trailer. The fellow has offered me five hundred dollars under my price and I told him I'd think about it and call him back. Paula had offered to trade me a motorhome for the trailer and now I can't get hold of her to discuss it. I've been praying about it today, looking for guidance.
Well, I think I'll clean the pot out and turn in early today. The cars are still giving me trouble and I'm tired of the struggle.
Our Lord's blessings to all of you. May he keep you all in the peace that passes all understanding.

I'm a lyric soprano, and I DO have the high notes. But, like in your choir, most of our altos have disappeared in the past six months. We're down to two -- one who just had a baby and one who can't come regularly. So, as one of the strongest of the female voices, and someone who can read music fairly well, I've become a default alto.
It's funny because I haven't sang alto since High School. But since we got the new hymnals, I've been singing the alto lines. Just did it to practice my sight singing, and because if I can get the alto line right after a few verses, I'll usually pop it up an octave in the last verse, and voila! instant decant.
And now that I've switched over to alto in the choir, I'm very grateful that I've been practicing it with the hymns.
God does work in mysterious ways. *gratefully*

Well, praise God, Paula has turned up and it was nothing serious. Well, for her anyway. Her daughter's father-in-law has been suffering with cancer for quite a few years and the dear man finally went home on Friday night. Paula took her family to be with him for the end. Her daughter is still there helping the family take care of all the arrangements and etc...
So, it's just my being a worry wart.
Actually, Porter, it's the man's attitude that disturbs me the most. He was told in the first place that the price I was asking was the rock bottom I would take. He knows that I'm in a really tight spot and is taking advantage of it. I suppose taking the offer is the best thing. Leave the Lord to make up the shortage. The advantage of the motorhome is that it's worth half again that of the trailer and gives me a place to live. Rather generous of Paula. Still, we'll see today.:sigh:

Wow, what a cold bunch.:cry:
What kind of dog food do you feed him? It would break us to fee our lab canned dog food. When I was a kid we had a cocker spaniel and we fed her canned dog food, but she only ate half a can a day. We use mostly dry food and I suppliment it with saome day old bread from a Hostess baker outlet. You can buy a whole bad of bread for 80 cents, and the dog loves it :yum:

I was just changing the subject...being a goofy gus!
I was away from home today, and pup was hungry, so I stopped at the gas station and got him some alpo.
He gobbled it right up! Normally he gets dry stuff...canned is wayyyy too expensive.

We lost our all time favorite pet about a year and half ago. She was a blond lab named Sheba. She was just like a member of the fsamily and there were only a couple of times that she didn't go with us on vacation and fishing trips. We all enjoyed her bunches. She was an outside dog, she really didn't like it when we would bring her inside like on a cold winter night. When she was about 5 years ole the barn she stayed in was hit by lightening. It must have given her a jolt cause she was dreadfuuly fearful of storms after that. Her eyes would glaze over and she would go crazy. She never got over that but did get a little better.
She loved to hunt with my son and I when we went duck and goose hunting. She would get real excited when ever we start calling to bring them in closer. One time she jumped on on me and pushed me thru the front of the blind, I almost ended up in the lake. It was always neat to have her around and she gave us a lot of good laughs.
When she was chained up at her house, she would watch birds or any animals that would come by with one eye open, then pounce on them. She caught a number of possums, racoons and wood chucks and a few birds.

Not at all silly. I can imagine how tuff that was to take. I lost a 4 month old puppy the same way about 7 years ago. I only had him a couple of monthes but he was a good little doggy :)
I remember when I was a kid, my GrandPa always had a picture of his old hunting companion on the wall. I think we all become very attached to our pets, which is good but also cause the grief of losing them.

My dog eats only dry. Lamb and Rice formula. It's good for his coat and he smells better, too (if you get my drift... ) His cookies (dog biscuits) are also Lamb and Rice. The problem is that he eats too many of those and not enough of his regular food. The dog will also eat people food if I give it to him. The people I got him back from gave him people food. I'm trying to break him of it.
My kitty has both wet and dry. She's picky... but she's a cat... and female.;) I get the Meow Mix pouches. There are some she likes and some she won't touch. I'm still trying to figure it all out. The cat won't touch people food. She's never had it and really doesn't care about any of it. I can leave a sandwich on the table and she won't go near it.
The dog would swallow it whole!

When I was ten, some people gave me an English Walker Hound and Irish Setter Cross puppy. He took after the hound in size and the Setter in body type and colour, with the short hound coat. My dad named him Red. I believe it was after Big Red the literary classic.
We couldn't keep him contained. It wasn't so bad at the ranch. When we were back in So Cal it was a serious problem. He could jump a six foot fence from a sitting position. I know, because I caught him several times. Used to watch him from the kitchen window. He was a beautiful dog, but just impossible to keep in the yard. We tried to chain him to a VW Beetle body in the back yard (my brother had made the rest of it into a dune-buggy). Red would drag it around the yard with ease. He was amazing. My dad finally lost patience when Red snapped the fourth welded chain and traded him with my sister for a very abused and obedient German Shepard female.
Baby worked out fairly well for about a year. Then she got knocked up and dad had her put down. It was about this time that I found out that Red had been as well.
I never got close to another dog till my current one. Oh I had them. I showed Cocker Spaniels and Flat Coated Retrievers. My wife had Newfoundlands and German Shepards. Yes, we had a kennel for about ten years. But I never allowed myself to become attached to them.
I bought Nana as a companion for my son after my Mum died. Hence the name. Her full name is Darling's Nana. But the real reason was not Peter Pan, but the German Colloquilisim for 'beloved one' also grandmother. Garrett wanted nothing to do with her and she bonded to me.
Nana's a real sweetheart that's almost literally my shadow. She goes with me everywhere and half the county knows her by sight. She's eleven years old and I'm dreading losing her. This past six months of unemployment has been a blessing as I've been able to spend so much time with her. She won't be with me much longer, I'm sure. Old English Sheepdogs have a life expectancy of only eight years. So the Lord has greatly blessed me with three extra years so far. May he be gracious enough to bless me with at least three more...

I love animals - always have. Two rather sad stories. In 1957 my father had poured cement for our new garage. We lived on a farm and had about 18 farm cats. Anyway, the next morning there were cat tracks across the cement. My father's solution? For my older brother and I to take all the cats to the edge of the woods on a hillside, and swing them by their tails to kill them against the trees. I was sick - but more afraid of my father not to do it.
When I was 10 my father and older brother were deer hunting (in those days they would go for the week). Our dog had been gut-shot by someone, and it limped home, but he was dying. It became my responsibility to shot my own dog. That was even harder.
50 years later, those event still affect me... Sadly, because we have moved so often (27 times in 36 years) in our married life, we have not had pets, and I miss them terribly.... :(
Nuts, I wasn't feeling too bad until I remembered these events....
In Christ's love,
filo

When I was a kid we had a cat. He just showed up at the house one day and mom gave him some food... thus we had a cat. His name was T. Hewitt Edward. (We called him Hewitt.) He came in the house only when my father wasn't home. He didn't believe that animals belonged in the house.
Every once in a while the cat would come in while he was there and he would order us to take the cat out. He didn't hate animals, he just didn't think they belonged in the house.
One day, he was sitting on the couch and we were kinda joking around about the cat. He was in the house at the time but dad wasn't all that uptight about it at the moment. Without warning the cat jumped up on his lap, circled once and laid down... right on his lap. He petted the cat for a couple seconds, then the cat jumped down and went into the other room.
The cat never sat on him again... but dad never said he had to go outside after that. ;) :)

I am really enjoying the stories everyone has about their pets. Some sad and some glad, I guess in this world we can expect both.
I need to get a dog of my own. The lab we have here now is my daughters dog. They had neighbors complaining about his barking, so they brought him over here last fall. The funny part is that the compaints about narking continued even after he was at my house. He is a really nice all black lab. I guess I prefer large dogs, and dogs that are primarily outside pets or at least can be, but I would also like a dog who could come inside in the evening for company.

Wow, I have missed out on a lot of chat; pets, fashion and more.
Let's see, I grew up with a toy fox terrier dog and a siamese cat. We have had two cats, the first one was with us about 7 or so years and disappeared one night, never knew what happened to her. The one we have now is definitely king. We have had him 7 years and he rules the roost.
Here, it stayed above 32 all night! Now that is cause for celebration as we have had a cold winter. Also, warmer temps make that white stuff go away faster.
Have a great day all!

9th March 2007, 01:39 PM
Ellipticals are great! I'd get one or the TreadClimber if I wasn't out of room already with my treadmill and Bowflex. The best thing is it gets you up for better blood flow, which always puzzles me about bikes. Unless you stand and push for power at least half the time, how much aerobic work are you really benefiting from?
We gals seriously need to be concerned about our hearts, ya know. That and our glutes. ;)

When I tried the elliptical at the gym in Minnesota (when we went to the Mall of America last summer), it sort of hurt my knees. Did I perhaps do it wrong?
Dunno. It's probably the extended range of motion that was emphasized which is normally not done. If your knees are healthy, I doubt it would damage them. I have bad knees, but it didn't bother me too much the times I've used it. It just wore me out incredibly quickly!
It's a serious machine, but probably very good for the joints, especially the hip area. The aerobic benefits have to be phenomenal as well.
LilLamb219
9th March 2007, 02:58 PM
My neighbor has one and she lost TONS of weight without having to diet too much. It took her a year to do it, but she did the machine for 30 minutes a day at least. She said she could get a much better workout for 30 minutes on her elliptical than walking for 45 minutes. Sounds good to me as long as it doesn't hurt me!
I'm just afraid to call her up and ask her about her machine because she's a nurse who works shift work and I never know when she's asleep. yikes.

I don't think any of this can be construed as gossip since we're actually saying it to their faces...am I right? :D
You guys know we're just teasing, right??

I am wondering if we shouldn't rename this thread "The Lutheran match makers" :P

Well I have to get back to work now, does anyone know how to put a clutch in a Chevy pickem up truck?

Cluth? You mean clutch? Nope. Not me. But we just changed the battery in our Toyota Corolla this morning...feeling good about doing it ourselves! We actually had the nicest man at WalMart help us (he was a customer who used to be a mechanic!) and told us we still had a connection on the old battery we needed to remove or we'd be in trouble! Thank God for strangers! He actually went to the tool department, got a wrench and removed it for us there in the store! LOL He was so nice! I bet if we had the car there he'd put the new one in for us as well :)
It's so beautiful outside here...in the 50s and climbing! I just walked my dog 2 miles and then got my bike out and went on the bike trails for 3 miles! Now I'm tired from the fresh air LOL
Lutheran MatchMakers...sounds like a game show. Who will be our next contestants?

Engaged? Hardly!
I said "...or something."
Why doesn't anyone read what I post on here?
I may have to take a long vacation from this place again. Y'all are getting me into trouble. :help:

Yes, DaRev is available. I live alone with a dog and a kitty. Kids are grown and gone.
Being a pastor is a very lonely profession. I don't have much in the way of human interaction outside of my parish duties (thus why I waste...er, uh, I mean spend... so much time here), and many of the people here don't care all that much for me. I guess I'm too conservative for them or something.
Maybe if the church does indeed close, it would be a blessing in disguise and the Lord would use me elsewhere. :prayer:

What she said!
Please don't take a long break from here. Being the wife of a Pastor in a small rural area, I know what you mean about interaction. Then factor in that your district is spread out, it must make it hard.
You better watch out though, the people here are probably going to play matchmaker now.

Well I guess since I tried to have a good Christian marriage and it didn't work then I will go for a shallow relationship.
I going to look for a "sugar momma" with lots of money to keep me in the style I would like to be accustomed. There doesn't have to be any loved involved. It will just be a convience relationship with marriage in mind.
Well enough of the day dreaming. Back to reality. Probably a few years in monastary will work. Or...................

It's OK. I know your boss and I've always found Him to be quite forgiving. ;)

If I didn't have a child to care for, I'd be right there with you. Cloistering me would be like throwing Brer Rabbit into the briar patch.

My EI distributor went out on my 58 Chevy. It was out of a 70's chevy. I wonder what would be a good replacement for it in another EI?

I may have figured out my problem last night. This truck has a hydraulic clutch master and slave cylinder. Since I have no experience with pickem up trucks I don't know how to unhook it so's I can finish pulling the trans, but as I lay in bed last night and was unable to get to sleep a real simple idea crept thru my tired mind. If I can muster the energy I will go out and see if I was right.
(Keeping my fingers crossed) :)

Actually you kind of grow on people after a while.

Is that a real possibility? Are they really thinking about closing down your church.

Yeah, but people often have growths removed. ;) :P

There is a serious financial crisis here. It probably shoulkd have been addressed some time ago, but I was not made aware of it until a few months ago. Our expenses exceed our receipts and the savings account is quite low. There is other money available to use, but that doesn't solve the problem, it only prolongs things.
I was finally able to impress on the elders here that we need to take some drastic steps to prevent this from happening. I finally convinced them that, as the Board of Elders, they are to be concerned with the spiritual care of the membership. As such, they do have some authority, so we did change our service time even though many grumbled that they didn't have any say in the matter.
This morning was our first service at the new time and we did have a marked increase in attendance including some folks we haven't seen in church for a while. :amen:
This along with some outreach ideas that I want to work on I think will help with the ministry of the Church. If we concenrate on doing ministry instead of feeding the checking account, the Lord will provide. It's just getting folks to understand this is a bit of a chore.

From what I have seen of church's that have a good sense of community seem to thrive well. Maybe find a way to get them even more community oriented than they are now. My fieldwork church is very community oriented and they have been around for 125 years. The church is located in the country and is surrounded by cornfields (quite literally). Rural is the best word to describe it, but the members are quite solid and really like to share their resources with others.

If anyone is watching the Weather Channel, you might see the strip of red, severe weather in Texas. We live at the south of that patch and are he
