Is this Bible Orthodox-friendly? Forgive me, I'm not as up to date as I should be, but I wasn't sure if the Apocrypha was also known as the Deuterocanon, which Father gave me permission to read.

I need something to satisfy my thirst, considering he isn't allowing me to dive into the Philokalia yet. :D
Thank you.

From the looks of the cover, this is the bible that my church recently gave out to the older Sunday School students.

Hey, if you want to purchase just the Deuterocanon (for instance, if money is an issue), you can find it (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0195283732/ref=dp_olp_2/103-4613903-3987819) for between $5-15.

Thanks! I've got enough KJV's around here, I may just go for the Deuterocanon. I appreciate the link.

I can't wait for the OSB. I was talking with one of the translators after Liturgy a while back and he assured me the Deuterocanonical books will all be included in their proper places. Was the original KJV like this or were the books kept separate?

Fair warning- the New Revised Standard Version is gender neutral. So, for instance, the 'son of man' of Psalm 8, which Hebrews 2 interprets as refering directly to Christ, is translated 'mortals.' Very dissapointing.
If you want a good Bible with the apocrypha/deuterocanon, try the Catholic Revised Standard (Ignatius Edition).
Personally I'm waiting for a deuterocanon to come out that parallels and follows the translation philosophy of the English Standard (my favorite English version by far). I might have a bit of a wait.
Anyway, best of luck in your meditations on Holy Writ.

GCC, I think the one referenced was the RSV.

Oh... shoot... haha. My bad- the Oxford NRSV w/ Apocrypha has an almost identical cover.
Well don't make the mistake I just did! Go with that version!
