Spiritual gifts

Hello everyone my name is Jacob and I have over the last year had numerous experiences with gifts of the spirit. I was hoping I could find out if more people have had these experiences and that I could help others to understand and believe in them.

I can speak in tongues and also speak in tongues understanding what I am saying. I have read out of the bible to people in tongues have you ever heard of anyone having this gift? I also shake and have shaken to the point were it looks as if I am having an epileptic attack but can stop at anytime. I frequently dance in the spirit and have visions and dream. This has been going on for over a year now.

I speak in tongues, I don't know about translations of speaking in tongues, but I have other gifts.
Healings, discernments, faith, teaching, and maybe even preaching.

I have had alot of growth as well over the past year with these gifts.

what are those gifts like? i have never prayed for someone to be healed do you lay hands on them and pray for the? I can only discerned things from my own understanding, i can tell if somone is really speaking in tounges or not because i understand how peoples gift of tounges have patterns to them that can't be faked but otheres would miss completly because they don't understand it. i've heard of faith being called a gift before but isn't faith beliving in something unseen, it seems to me you have to have faith to recive anygifts from God, correct me if i am wrong.
the gifts of teaching and preaching seem to me to be more the results and evidence of being filled with the spirit than an actual gift. I'd like to know your thought about it, because i don't understand those gifts i guess and would like to know more about them so i can seek them.

I personally do not view shaking as a gift but as a manifestation of my flesh to the presense of God. We see that frequently in the Bible. Such as Daniel who kept falling down because he was so overwhelmed with what he was seeing.

How are these things you do helping you to be a better God lover? What changes are you seeing in your heart and mind?

I have the gift of tongues and interpretation. I also operate propheticly as needed, but I do not consider myself a prophet. I have laid hands on the sick and seen them healed. I very rarely have a physical manifestion as you have described but have seen many others who do.

The one thing I always told the Lord was that I did not care how I acted in His presense, just as long as I changed. Just as long as I become more loving and caring and more Godlike, it does not matter to me. . .

what it does is show i do speak a tounge i never learned and shows that it is not jiberish since i can understand it. i have also had people say things and i would repeat them back to them in tounges and no matter how they tired to trick me or mix things up i would always say the same thing. I regulalry sing in tounges as well. i don't exsactly know what to call the gift. i can speak in tounges with out understanding (prayer language) and with understanding.

I don't think the manifistations are so much for my benifit but others tounges and babtisum of the holy spirit are to of the most common manifestation talked about and i can show that both of them are real. My father is a nurse and say that there is no physical way I could shake and fall down like i do, he gave me some explination about the brain stem having to be seperated from the spine.

how does interpretation work do you hear what is spoken in a language you understand or just get the message behind it? i have seen things that haven't happned and i was supossed to do and had things revealed to me for others is that the kind of thing you mean by operating propheticly.

another physical manifistation i have had is danceing in the spirit were i let go of control of my body and am guided by the spirit. it feels the same as the shaking. the directing feels almost like when you spin around realy fast and get dizzy that pull you feel from the dizzy ness. i get that feeling in my limbs and body and it directs my actions but never in one direction its almost like currents or edys that move in loose always changng patterns. I've felt the same feeling last night surounding my body when i was at a prayer service last night and the speaker asked for people to come forward. The feeling helped me allmost pulled me up out of my chair. it wasn't just a feeling i needed to stand up it was actually something i felt.

I'm still not understanding israel_knight. Who, beside yourself, who has the understanding and the other person (who does not have the understanding) is there to confirm you are indeed speaking an another language and repeating in another language what you are reading from the scripture?

to manifest healing, you don't need to pray. Healing is something that occures because a priest has authority to give it, but it most be recieved also and the priest must be following the leading of the Spirit. by priest, I mean one who stand in his position and ministers to those under him and ministers to God.

the gife of discernment is basically the ability to tell the difference between the truth and a lie. Light and darkness. It comes in to main forms; a simple knowing or even hearing God say something, or actually seeing.

The gift of faith is a supernatural impartation to do the miraculous. When it comes over you, you just know beyound all doubt that God will perform a specific task. I don't like the idea of blind faith because often times it is faith that is not based upon ones relationship. It is just something that someone wants. True faith comes by hearing the voice of God and doing what God says or does. True faith is reliant upon God.

teaching and preaching is actually a gift that is related to ones calling. Especially teaching.

I have worked in all of these gifts and they all can be abused, the best way to do anything is to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. You already have the ability to see these gifts active in your life, since you are filled with the Holy Ghost. They are apart of Him and come to all who recieve Him. The reason that some are more proficent in perticular gifts is because that is where their faith is, never the less the gifts are all still available.

I am just speaking a language i have never learned. i don't know what it is. It works like this say i read John 3:16 For God so love the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son;that whosoever believeth in Him,
should not perish, but have everlasting life. if i read it back to you in spanish it would be something like this Para el Dios tan ama el mundo, que El dio a Su único Hijo engendrado; ese believeth de whosoever en El, nodebe perecer, pero debe tener la vida eterna. i'd tell you what it was in my langauge but i have no idea how to write it. it doesn't have alot of the alphabet we use and some we don't.

And i can repeat back to a person what he said but in my langauge. so if you said hello i would say hola for example if it was spanish. i can do it with out thinking about it. i just know this langauge i have never learned.

The biggest changes i have seen in my self from this is total confidence and faith in God i know that he is real for a fact, anyone that would deny that after seeing such manifestation has a hard heart.

The gifts are awesome.

Like snoopy :P said, healing isn't something you pray for. Its something you take by faith. Its like salvation, you don't have to beg for it, just take it. God wants to give it, more than you want to recieve it.
I lay hands, and sometimes I just command for the problem to leave, in the name of Jesus. Sometimes I spend time praying in the spirit (tongues), and what ever comes to mind, I speak.
The best advice I can give, is if you don't have the confidence to manifest a healing, pray in the spirit for awhile, untill confidence comes. This is very effective and powerful.
I think Peter prayed for an hour before he raised a girl from the dead.
I can imagine him walking in the room, thinking, "Poopy! this isn't going to work! They're all going to laugh at me.POOP!" Then he kicked everyone out, while he figured out what to do.

The gift of faith, is a powerfull feeling of confidence, or the ability to muster up bravery faster than those who don't have a strong gift of faith. We all have faith, and I believe we all have, all of the gifts. But some excel at certian gifts than others. I believe that one false doctrine is that people only have a one or two gifts, and that is it. But I believe that Paul was talking about when people come together in a body. One would do this, and another that.

I believe that the gift of discernment. Is the abililty to know what someone is thinking. Many places in the bible Jesus "knew there thoughts".A woman came over and wanted to talk to me. No one told me her problem, or that she even had a problem. There was no evidence for me to know what she wanted. She asked me, "do you know what I want to talk about?". I said "Yes, you are having problems with your husband."
I spoke a prophetic word into her life.

Teaching and preaching are similar. Preaching is giving a speech, the gift is that it flows real easy, and touchs alot of people. It is the Holy Spirit working through an individual. But that is true with all of the Spirits. Thus the name "gifts of the spirit".
Teaching is more on a personal level. Questions should be asked by both the teacher, and the one being taught. Tests are also good.
People with the gift to teach, can be found in bible studies, schools and things like that.

Hi Jacob, I believe the shaking was called quakers. I was told this because when I 1st seen God move and I never seen the Spirit side of God I started to shake and could not stop. It only happend once. Maybe God was trying wake me up :D

I had that same thing happen but i continued to press into God harder during worship until one day i gave him total control of me and i have not been the same since that day.

on the subject of interpretation of tongues...in my experience it's been someone gives a tongue, and either that person or someone else then says in english what the tongue's meaning is. i've both been the tongue-giver and the tongue-interpreter.

thats not quite what i mean. i speak a tounge/language that i never learned and i know what i am saying just as if you knew spanish and were speaking it. i can do it all the time i don't just do it when the spirit comes to me.

If i knew that i'd know what i ws suposed to do with it. my pastor happned to think it may not be a language thats around anymore or it may be a langauge of angels. Persoanly i think its some asian langauge because it sure sounds like it to me.

I have seen many healed when I do what Jesus did -- speak to the condition to cease or be healed.
Perhaps command would be more accurate.
It is not commanding God, but commanding evil spirits or conditions in the name of Jesus and by His vested authority. I have seen both deliverance and healing occur by just speaking in tongues.
I use it on the internet for those who are not specific as to their needs.
