Just wondering if anyone has found good fundamentalist churches in their area. I'm in BC, Canada, and having a brutal time finding any. Of all the churches I've seen in the past five or so years (and trust me, I've visited many in my search) all seem to have sermons that are basically watered-down baby food, and even often way off base in order to be "PC". It's so frustrating.
I guess I'm just hoping to read that there are still some good ones out there somewhere to help counterbalance my discouragement. I do know of one in Seattle and an couple in California, but that's a little out of my way!

There are indeed good Fundamentalist Churches out there. TwinCrier has provided a couple of links in the past to a couple of resources. Unfortunately I cannot where I saved the links. Don't lose heart.

There are many good, solid churches left out here. They are more prevalant in some areas and less in others, but they are still out here.
I see you are anabaptist. I can not speak much of those denominations, but there are several solid denominations that have not bowed to political correctness. There're solid Southern Baptist Churches out. I don't know about where you live, but they are big in my area.
I pray you find a solid Church,
Kenith

Thanks guys. That is good to hear.
I'm not specifically Anabaptist, but it comes closest to describing what I'm looking for because it tends to stick closer to hard core truth, IMO. Denomination doesn't really mean that much to me these days. We don't have a Southern Baptist denomination in Canada, just plain old Baptist. I grew up Baptist and have come to understand that it doesn't really represent anything. Some are charismatic, some are just wishy-washy, some are legalistic, many are falling apart for one reason or another, there is no rhyme or reason really. Same is even true for the Mennonite churches, which really surprised me. The best church I've been to in many years is a non-denominational one in Seattle that has Baptist roots. But that's just too far to travel every week. Sometimes I wish I could move to the US. I think perhaps there are many more good ones to choose from there.

I understand what you mean. I think we all go to the church that we think is most closely aligned with the Word of God.
I've attended a many SOuthern Baptist Churches and they are usually fairly conservative. I'm Reformed so I have some important theological differences with the SBC, but they are fairly solid. I am sure they have associated Churches in BC.

Wow, excellent resources, thanks! Funny, no one ever uses the term Southern Baptist up here. I guess it probably sounds too "American" to be politically correct. Our media is constantly trying to warp Canadians and make us despise all things American. Very frustrating.
LOL, looks like all the SBC's in my area are Chinese (I don't speak a word of it!), but it's a start. At least they exist!

I had thought we only had Baptist here in Canada but this summer found out there are independent Baptists. I have a friend who goes to one in BC. I can look at a link for the ones in Canada and give it to you later.

there are a bunch for you to look at. because they are independent does not mean if you go to one and its got a problem does not mean they all would.

I hope that helps.

Hello desmalia. Do not lose heart. Where I live there are a number of very good fundamental churches. I live in the upper part of South Carolina and we are really blessed here. I pray that God will lead you to where you need to be.

Ontairo is Ontario Canada LOL My Church is listed there.Hehe, yes I figured they were talking about Ontario, Canada. Just seemed funny that they listed it in both the Canada and US sections. :D
Hm, well Vancouver Island drops below the 49th parallel, so maybe they should include BC in their US list too.....^_^

The process of finding a good church congregation to join really is very tough these days. A denomination label like "Southern Baptist" really is no guarantee of recieving good teaching. Becoming a good place to learn Scriptures, requires a church congregation be led by a pastor who is being led into truth by the Holy Spirit. Just the fact that a pastor may identify himself with a tradionally fundumentalist denomination really only offers some hope you are in the right ballpark.
There are a lot of enemies of christianity out there, from Satan's army, to other armies like the Jesuits, who have taken a vow to destroy the Protestant Reformation and the true Church.
Remember that even after the Apostle Paul established some churches, some of them quickly fell away and got caught up in false doctrines.

Excellent points. Thank you for saying that. I'm hoping that at least pinpointing some fundamentalist churches might be a good starting point.
But I totally agree that it's certainly no guarantee.

I don't know if you've tried any of these. Calvary Chapel pastors vary in teaching style quite a bit. They teach directly from the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Don't know if this is the type of fundamental your looking for, I am not familiar with Anabaptist, but just in case here are some links to churches in BC. I think I've heard the pastor from Nanaimo on the radio and if it is who I am thinking of it was good teaching.
Blessings.

Cool, thanks! I really have grown to love it when churches stick to this format of teaching the Bible book by book, instead of "theme by theme".
I grew up mostly Baptist, and although I'm not Dutch or German, attended a Christian Reformed school, and several Mennonite (Anabaptist) churches. DH is from a Christian Reformed background, but doesn't want to go to CRC anymore. So we're kinda denominational muts. lol. We just want a solid, Bible-based church.

I've only gone to one fundamentalist church. It was the one where my first and newly oficialized girlfriend goes to. God spoke in first person to her though her cousin prophet, saying that the man she had chosen (me) was the ome God had chosen for her and that we will marry in 2 years (2007). Seven months after that, I had to leave her because we were unequal yokes.
So I'm not keen in visiting another fundamentalist church. One was enough for my whole lifetime.

That doesn't sound like any Fundamentalist Church I have ever been to. What was the name of this church, and why do you believe it was fundamentalist?

Maybe I'm confusing fundamentalist with Old Testament focused, legalist, ultra pentecostal churchs... The name is something like "Tabernacle of Power and Might" something like that.

While some pentecostals may be Fundamentalist, they normally do not identify themselves as such. Normally you would find Fundamentalists in such churches as the Independent Baptist Churches or the Bible Baptist Churches. this however is not meant to imply that fundamentalists need be baptists. The definition we use can be found here (http://www.christianforums.com/t672730-rules-for-this-forum-read-before-posting-updated-6-16-05.html).
I think what you mentioned happend to you would normally be called a word or Knowledge or perhaps a Prophecy in Pentecostal Churches. I have never seen such a thing in Fundamentalist Churches.

The one I live no more that 5 minutes from is an excellent one, but I would say it is great for locals and people who grew up here.
The issue is (for outsiders - which means anybody who have not lived here for 15 years+) is that breaking the insular, clannish mentality is impossible and making friends (in a real sense - not the flippant warm weather friend style) is nearly impossible. The people, if they know you is incredible and very close knit, the people are warm, friendly.. but woe if they do not know you.
The situation in other areas of the state is even worse from what I have seen.. so they only thing I can do is just pray for them and maybe God will soften thier hearts..
But for the list of very good Fundamentalist churches, I do know of one..

Unfortunately I have seen the same thing. Not normally this pronounced but I have seen it in varying degrees.
