View Full Version : I need to vent

I need to vent, please bear with me. I may be the only one that does this, but from time to time I like to read some of the theology and debate threads. I find it hard to stay focused long because I get really upset over the things that some of our members (which should be Christians) say and defend. It really upsets and hurts me to know that Christians can defend such things as homosexuality and abortion (to name just a couple). What makes it worse is that I'm a fairly "new" Christian as I don't know very much scripture to defend my views on such subjects. I'm just curious if I'm the only one that feels this way. Thanks for bearing with me. :)

Thanks Duki. While I agree that God loves everyone no matter what, I still believe we shouldn't condone certain things. My question was not really "how" to vent about my situation, but if anyone else felt the same way about the views that some people on here have(even though they're supposed to be Christians) and if they felt kind of defenseless (for their lack of scripture-based knowledge). I hope I didn't go too far out into left field :) Thanks for your input!

I feel that way quit often. All I can do in this situations is step back for a bit and pray to God for wisdom. We must remember that all because someone calls themselves a Christian it doesn't make it so. Not that long ago I posted the gospel message in a forum. It wasn't directed at anyone or any specific group of people. The thread ended up getting moved to the debate forum. So even the gospel is looked down upon here in the "Christian" section. Just keep on spreading the gospel and you may not have all the answers but pray, read the Bible and search for Godly counsel and you'll find the answers.

It always keeps coming back to the "many are called but few are chosen" rule. There are a lot of people who honestly believe they are Christians while (scripturally speaking) they are anything but....

I wonder what jesus had in mind when He told us, "there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth"?

Hummmm.....

I find that peopl ebelieve what they believe, sometime inspite of good evidence to the contrary. The best place to change someones mind is face to face in my opinion. These forums are just practise for real life in my case.

Try to remember what you thought and how you behaved before the grace of God came into your life. Having done this, it does not take long to appreciate where others are.

As Paul intoned, "There, but for the grace of God, go I..."

I preached in a down-and-out mission and quickly realized that these people did not have to be told they were sinners. They sure knew that. They needed to hear the good news that God loved them.

Some of the largest disappointments in life will come from those who profess Christianity.

Cheers,

Jim

It, in my opinion, is just typical of how many people have compromised the word of God. I make no apologies for not condoning the "gay lifestyle." My Bible clearly says that such who do it are engaged in activity that God considers an abomination. And Paul wrote that thosewho see those who do this and take pleasure in them do such are no better than those who do themselves. But what it really boils down to is putting the word of God out there, and then letting the Spirit do the work. That is really all you or I or anyone else can do. And it come down sometimes to the point where after putting the word out there, remember what Jesus said:

"Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." -Jn. 15:20

Put the word out, and let the Spirit do the rest. If they have kept the Lords word, they'll keep yours. If they refuse and start an argument, back away. Say God Bless you in your convictions and bow out gracefully. Remember this when dealing with them:

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." -Prov. 15:1

God Bless

Till all are one.

You can offer them guidance and witness to them. They will stand in judgement after their short life in this world is over. If they reject the word of the Lord, then you have done your part in trying to give them guidance. Some will follow the Lord, and others will not. It is free will though, that is the importance of Christianity.
