I have a question on Holy Communion.
My church only has it once a month, sometimes less. I would really like to experience the Lord in this way more often. Is it possible to have communion by yourself at home?

The togetherness is a vital part of it, I think.

So two people together would be okay?

Technically.

I've always felt that anytime you break bread (i.e. eat) in remembrance of Jesus, you're partaking in communion. That could be just about any meal.

In view of 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, I don't agree with this.

Can you ask your pastor about this. Or maybe there may be another church that does it more.
I invite you to come to the ministry area. Welcome to CF.

What type of church is it? (out of interest) I'm Catholic so communion is frequent - daily in my parish I think. Less than once a month seems very infrequent to me. I thought Prostestant churches usually had services at least once a week?
Correct my ignorance.

We have services at least once a week, but most of the churches I have been to only have communion about once a month. Some do it weekly though.

IN REFERENCE TO THE VERSES YOU MENTIONED, I SEE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OP TAKING COMMUNION BY HERSELF. LET US RECALL THE FREEDOM CHRIST HAS GIVEN TO US!
23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
25In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.
27Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
28But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
29For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.(1Cor 11:23-28 NAS bold is my own)

It is not just the breaking of bread, it is the Word of God. If your church doesn't have communion as often as you think perhaps you should talk with the church council about it, maybe there are others that would like to have it more often. My church has communion at every regular service (we have 2 services on Sunday, and one on Wednesday) probably because Christ said "do this often to remember me"
