Came upon Sid Roth's program "It's Supermatural" while channel surfing. He had a guest that discussed ancient Hebrew blessing. This guest, a Christian, and the name escapes me, had been meeting with a certain rabbi and came away with the idea that we can speak Hebrew blessings to our family or situation, much like the Patriachs and thus see change in the lives of those we bless. The guest expalined that he has seen such results as kids getting better grades in school, barren women becoming pregnant, and even healings.

Is there any validity to speaking these blessings, or are they just meant to be a platitude to others like "God bless you"?

I had talked with Rico Cortes at length when he came to my congregation... and we discussed the power of words as well as the "tuning" that music has and the ill effects on the body and other things.

I don't remember the websites we surfed through when we were looking at them, but it is discussed some on the website that came out with the CD "Music from G-d" (http://musicfromgod.org/)
Which are the psalms and the songs of moses (parts of them) put to music from the letter's frequencies.

One of the things I recall looking at was chinese research on the ill effects that evil speaking has on people.

For instance, the change when you wrote "I hate you" or said "I hate you" around a cup of water... compared to if you wrote on the cup "I love you and wish only good things to you" or said it..

I wish I could find the site again, the research was very interesting - and considering our bodies' makeup is mostly water, I can see how this would effect us.

I believe if parents rather bless and speak well of their children, we will see good results rather than bad...

I don't think any of the sons of Israel thought their father, Jacob was giving them 'platitudes'. I believe they each treasured this blessing as one of the most important things they ever recieved in their lives.

Today when the blessings are said over the children we say:

May the L-rD make you like Ephraim and Mannasa, ( boys) may the L-RD make you like Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah ( girls)

Here is a article (http://www.aish.com/shabbathowto/fridaynight/Blessing_the_Children.asp)on the 'whys'

And there is a book called 'Imparting the Blessing to your Children' (http://store.iblp.org/products/IBJPK/) That site has the best price for this.

We see evidence of it everyday in society...when parents tell their children they will amount to nothing...yet when parents tell their children they are blessed, holy and can achieve any goal they set for themselves we get a completely different outcome...

Yes it is a broad generalization and I do know children will sometimes reach adulthood completely differently than their parents raised them.

Shalom Alecheim

Blessings are real. The 'Faith' Movements of Name it Claim it and Prosperity as Well as the "Name of G-d"and jewish mystical "pronouncement " cultism is not.

G-d is in control and is not subject to us, but in occassion with us delights to show us Himself in Blessings and frankly at times even in cursing in right perspective and when HE chooses to do so.

Now somewhere in all that is deception by angelic beings, Self-deception by pride, delusion allowed by G-d when we turn our back on Him and become reprobate, as well as a number of ways we fail to Acknowledge and Allow the L-rd God to be ALL in All and directe OUR words for a blessing.

Y'shua's example is most fitting and we see a cooperation co-extant in what Messiah Said and did in blessing and cursing and what G-d the Father desired and chose to use to reveal himself or his S-n.

We too reveal much in caring enough to bless and when applied in conjunction with Knowledge, Wisdom ad Direction from the Ruach ha Kodesh, fulfillment is as assured as the rising of the sun and going down thereof for the name of the L-rd to be glorified in and through us as HE is revealed through us not some power given to us.

Alecheim Shalom

May it be the blessing we seek be one of knowing Him and in knowing Him find rest.

Have we all not been blessed by God to make it this far? Have we not prayed for the Lord's blessings upon our journey? Have we not seen the results? I would say a resounding YES with tons of testimonies that show it.
