Hello, folks-
Well, I'm here, but just barely. I had that dreaded root canal done yesterday, and am feeling rough.

I want to ask if anyone else has had this happen with nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

Does the smell of that mess linger in your head for a day or so? It smells as strong as it did yesterday to me at times!

Do you feel weak and queasy a day or so after it? Part of mine is taking some codeine for pain. I can't go that stuff-makes me sick. I'm going to ask the assistant at the office these questions, but wanted to see how any of you reacted who have had root canal.

I'm doing better pain-wise with just Tylenol now. It's a good thing, because I can't handle that codiene very well.

God bless, and hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving-

Tony

I've never had laughing gas, my mom has & it made her sick to her stomach. She said she would never go that route again. :P
The best thing is prolly to go sleep off the pain and follow instructions so you won't get a dry socket. My mom & brother both had root canals done and both had problems with dry sockets and said that's even more painful. Follow your dentist's instructions on taking care of it.

I hope you feel better soon. :)

Hello, Red-
Yeah, I don't know why they call that stuff laughing gas. You sure don't feel like laughing. I did fine for a long while, then the quesies set in. They washed it out with O2, and I got better. Then later, I took codiene for pain, and I couldn't eat my meal last night. I'm better there, and hope to eat today.

So far, so good. I've just had one Tylenol this a.m., and it's seeming better all the time. I've prayed I would do better and not have to take any more pain relievers, so I might do pretty good, at least I hope.

I'm following orders to the letter. I have some questions when the asst. does call.

Thanks, Red, doing my best to recover. It's just like any other surgery--you just feel bad for a while after.

God bless,
Tony

I don't know if it was the gas or what, but ever since this was done, I've got the worst smell in my head, and my taste and smell are fuzzier! I just hope it resolves. I didn't know that stuff could foul your olfactory senses, but I do now. That is a concern if it remains like this.
