A similar poll in the women's section made me wonder. And please, let us keep this clean, and respect anyone not wishing to divulge.
I did, and it was difficult, as my father (a physician) sent his best "call girl" client to seduce me so I'd forget all the Christian "mumbo jumbo." He admitted to it many years later.

No I did not, I regret it. I was a Christian but very far awzy from the Lord at the time. This is one of the reasons I speak with my Children regularly about their spiritual life.

So far, so good (not counting the thought life). Of course, most of that is being attributed to being shy and/or an outcast.

I didn't, and I didn't regret it, but I can definately understand how many people would, therefore I don't recommend it unless one is perfectly emotionally ready for it...

I wasn't a Christian prior to marriage. Had I been, then I probably would have waited.

I'm not married; how should I answer?
In any case, I intend to wait until marriage (assuming I decide to get married at all), and I've been successful so far. The worst I've done is hold hands with a woman for a minute, and even this not of my own volition. It's actually a rather humorous story, in case anyone wants to ask...

I voted "sort of" we didn't go all the way, but went further than we should have.

I'm waiting and will be married in a year. I'm actually surprised by the number of people on CF that did not wait until they were married, especially among those who were christians before they got married

I know I'm an evil liberal Christian (just busting, guys), but actually I have waited. Still waiting, in fact.

No, I did not wait. I was with one other person before I met my wife when I was 16. When I met my wife, I was 19 and we also did not wait. I regret it. She, my wife, has only been with me. I was a Christian, but a luke warm one. So, was my wife.
If there is one thing I could strees to today's youth, it is this subject. Wait. God really does know what he's talking about when he commands this.
God Bless!

No--I had slept with numerous partners before marriage--I did not get saved until mid way my second "Unequally yoked" marriage (he was/still is the Love of my life) He died and now I am happily married again to a wonderful man. There was no more ill effect from this than being fat, pious, or judgemental. It was wrong, but it took maturing as a christian to realize it.
God is good, gracious and forgiving--we should try and be more like Him.

 Emotionally ready for it? I think you forgot the part in the Bible where it says it is wrong to have sex before marriage.

I didn't vote, because I am not yet married, though I hope someday to be. So far, I have abstained. However, i don't think there is anything wrong with holding hands or kisses as long as it's positive communication. I do say that I am not surprised by the number of people that did not wait, because that temptation is tough. It's only by the grace of God that I have not so far. And i pray everyday for his continuing grace in this department.

I regret not saving it for marriage as well. I have a 5 year old daughter now, and how can I teach her about purity, when I didnt do it myself.

Personally I don't have any problem with the displays of affection you mentioned. If anyone asks, I'll say that kissing is sinful, but only to excuse the fact that I've never kissed anyone. :sorry:

Well, I am not Christian and therefore don't necessarily follow the Bible. I made the choice of my own accord and I didn't regret it.

We did not wait until we were married. We tried and actually made it through 3 years of dating; we were engaged when we gave in.
I hate to tell you all this - but I am very glad that we gave in - and this is why.
My wife had experienced terrible sexual abuse as a child - and she ended up suffering terrible post traumatic stress when we did have sex for the first time - it was horrible.
I am just glad that she started the long road to recovery (with lots of therapy) before we got married. I am also glad it did not happen on our honeymoon.

According to CF rule 1.4 non-fundamentalists may not debate here but may post fellowship posts. That is not the problem I think however since you are not debating. Please read and respond to the PM I sent to you yesterday.

No, my husband and I did not wait. We were believers from childhood, but didn't know much about the Lord and weren't walking as Christians should. That situation alone caused us a great deal of grief and obstacles in our relationship.
The one thing I'd do over if I could is doing things God's way from the start. Fortuneatly for us we both eventually turned to God .
I am ever greatful to Jesus for not abandoning me/us and for leading us out of our own sinful ways and showing us a better life. We thought we were happy, but we had to ignore a lot of negative consequences in our life together to have that false sense of happiness.
Now that we are living for Christ and walking with Him we experience a deeper love, joy, contentment and happiness that neither of us ever knew existed before.
God is so good! Thank you Jesus!

You can teach her because you've been forgiven, you've recognized that God has a better way and you can teach His way to your little girl.
Not all of us have to learn the hardway
I know my children very well, one in the 20's and 2 teens and so far I know they are waiting. In fact they are quite proud to be doing so which is really cool. I never ever in all my life knew anyone like that. Now my kids talk about their friends who share that belief and it's just so awesome to me.
God can show you how to convey this message to your little girl successfully.:amen:

Adventist? Really? I know I will see some Adventist in heaven, no doubt there.
But, this is the religion I ran from, lots of family SDA, bad experience for me. Legalism etc.
Maybe a topic for another thread.

I wasn't encouraging him to stay adventist, nor was I discouraging him I was encouraging him to keep waiting for marriage before sex.
