For those who know what a Urim is, how do you think it related to the understanding of Revelation 2:17

"Those who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Messianic Communities. To him winning the victory I will give some of the hidden man. I will also give him a white stone, on which is written a new name that nobody knows except the one receiving it."

I understand the "hidden man" to be the righteousness and sacrific of Yeshua. I also know that the white stone could be refering to the Urim used by the high priest (who is now Messiah) when questions that had no direction for in Torah needed answers and was a symbol of G-d's soveriegnty. But even understanding that symbology I don't know how to apply it to the context of this passage. Any thoughts?

I haven't read on this in a lonnnnnnnng time but wasn't it thought that one stone was white and the other black, one meaning yes the other no. One meaning good, the other not? Is this what the apostles were doing when they choose a replacement for Judah(s)?

I think that white stone, from the greek would be, and I am just surmising right now, perhaps in tune with Yeshua's brother, James who said we are livley stones, building up the true temple of G-d?

Could they be connected?

What about Jacobs dream? When he wrestled with who I believe was Yeshua? The stone he slept on for a pillow he annointed with oil and named the place Bethel - House of G-d.

Templf of G-d - House of G-d? connection?

He even said, this stone which i set for a pillar shall be G-ds house. --------Genesis 28:22

When Jacob gave his blessing of Joseph this is part of it:

The archers attacked him fiercely , shooting at him and pressing him hard; but his bow remained taut; and his arms were made nimble by the hands of the Mighty One of Ya'akov, from there , from the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel, by the G-d of your father will help you.......

Yes, and Yeshua is the "corner stone" rejected by those he was sent to. Yes the Urim was the white stone indicating Yes to a question. It was held in the breastplate of the high preist and the officials of the land would go to him to ask questions when there was no guidence in the scriptures.

Is the white stone like a vip pass for G-d's kingdom I wonder. :P

somewhere in my studies (can't find it now) I remember learning that some believe that the 2 lots in the Lot Box @ Yom Kippur were a black and a white stone - on the black was engraved "for Azazel and on the white "for the L-rd"
