I have had a thought buzzing in my head for the last two days and I couldn't really get it off my mind nor develop it (it's still flapping around in there, and I'm still really just staring at it going  )...
So I figured, Hey! I should ask my buddies over at CF!:holy:
So...
Here's my question:
What comes to mind when you hear/contemplate the phrase "Am Segula"?

Hey, that's why we're all here! :groupray: To bond, and to learn stuff we never heard of, or never thought of.. :)
What or Who Are the "Am Segula"?
'Am Segula' would be more accurately rendered "treasured people." One bible translation uses the phrase "special people."
Israel & all grafted in to her, are 'Am Segula'
Passages concerning "Am Segula"
Deut. 7:6.
"You are a nation consecrated to God your Lord. God your Lord chose you to be His special people among all the nations on the face of the earth."
Deut. 14:2:
"You are a nation consecrated to God your Lord. God has chosen you from all nations on the face of the earth to be His own special nation."
Exod. 19:5:
"Now if you obey Me and keep My covenant, you shall be My special treasure among all nations, even though all the world is Mine."
Similar passages:
Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
1Pe 2:9 But you are "an elect race," "a royal priesthood," "a holy nation," "a people for possession," so that "you may openly speak of the virtues" of the One who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; [LXX-Ex. 23:22; MT-Ex. 19:5, 6]
1Pe 2:10 you who then were "not a people, but now are the people" of God; "the one not pitied then but now pitied." [Hos. 1:6, 9 2:1, 23]
I asked Andreas on my way home what his first thought was. He said "Children."
I asked him "what do you mean Children? That's interesting"
And he loosely quoted the passage "Thus saith YHVH: Israel is My son, My first-born".
I asked if there was anything else he thought about 'Am Segula' to which his answer was something like this:
When I think of 'Am Segula' I think there are:
People who are very proud of this status,
People who don't care about the status,
People who want to get rid of the status,
People who pretend to not have the status,
People who treat the status with due respect,
People who hate people who have the status,
People who are indifferent to people who have the status.
- Now, keep in mind, this is someone who went through catechism classes and dropped out of church, but kept up Religious classes within the state school until it wasn't offered anymore, wasn't saved and found salvation after re-studying Genesis 3 and the sacrificial system...
This is someone who grew up in a culture that teaches equality and assimilation. This is someone not raised in his heritage (or even really in faith), and he has it I think better than me. :o :)
No one but the Spirit of G-d taught him this, and here I am 20+ years of supposedly learning scripture, and I'm only breaking the ice.
As Scripture says:
1Co 1:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;
1Co 1:28 and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are:
1Co 1:29 that no flesh should boast before God.
1Co 1:30 But of him, you are in Messiah Yeshua, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:
1Co 1:31 that, according as it is written, "He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."
I wanted to ask, because I think this is a way we can draw closer as a group, but also explain how we see the different side of the same issue, making up the whole.

Just one quick thought,
There are chosen ones
and there are
called out ones.
Are they the same? Hmmmmmm
