Hi :wave:, I'm the CF Welcome Angel Recovery Coordinator...better known as Steffi ;). This is the thread for the Recovery Angels to check every day for updates or to post updates in themselves - if you see a new member, welcome them and let us know in here as well (it's a good idea to subscribe to this thread too).

Some ways to welcome someone are to write in their guestbook (and post a nice picture), send them some blessings or a PM. You can also post in the threads they have made and let them know that if they ever have any questions, they're more than welcome to ask you :). In our Recovery forums in particular, members just need to know you care and a friendly smile can make such a difference :hug:.

It's wonderful to have you both as CF angels and I can't wait to get to know you better!

Before I go any further though, there is something important to note about the Recovery areas - if you come across any suicidal threads at all, please, please report them asap and send me a PM. By all means, still welcome the member and let them know you care, but please make sure you refer them to a Recovery staff member (you can find a list here (http://www.christianforums.com/staff.php?act=ViewTeam&cid=2&cname=Recovery%20Team)).

I see that Steffi has given you a list of newbies to contact. Be sure to post in their guestbooks, and/or send a PM.

Why don't the 2 of you divide up the names between the two of you. Send a PM to the names you have and sign the guestbooks of the ones your support mate has. That should work out pretty well. Whoever see's this first, just go ahead and pick half of the names, list the ones you've taken, so your support mate knows which one's are hers.


Now on to some Chief Angel business ;)

Your Coordinator will be giving you some blessings to use. She may have done so already. If you give out blessings, please try to give only 20 blessings out at a time, unless there are unusual circumstances, and then you may give 50. :)

sorry haven't really had time to check in - I'm going to be off angel duty til the 29th Nov - i have 2 huge uni exams on the 28th / 29th of Nov which i need to study for. I am doing ok but yeah the exams are eating up my time

When someone don't have their guestbook open, I just bless them and tell them Welcome To CF and tell them to feel free to pm me if they need help with anything and if I can't assist, I'll direct them with someone who can..........Okay, is that okay, or should I bless them, and then just send them a seperate pm saying all that other stuff?:scratch:

That's more than ok Alana :D. You don't need to bless every newbie you come across - it's more about making them feel welcome. If you write the welcome message in the blessing message, that's awesome!

A person's guestbook doesn't show up until someone posts in it - so before the first entry, it isn't part of the homepage. To make the first entry in a guestbook you have to find one of their posts (an easy way to do that from their homepage is to go to 'find all posts' on the left hand side of the page). Once you can read a post they've made, click on their username at the top of the post so the drop-down menu appears. From there, you should be able to select and option that says "Post in ______'s guestbook" - click that and you're on your way to making the person's first guestbook entry :D.

ETA: I have to study for my exam, but once it's over tonight I'll start compiling the names we have so we can keep track.

chadders linked me to a game where i won $25 K :P but yes the study is going well ... the uni lost my exam paper for tuesday's exam which is not a good thing but its been couriered over to my supervisor asap. oh and i feel like if i study anymore my head is going to explode

Whilst they might find it strange to be welcomed, a random guest book entry or even support PMs wouldn't go astray because as angels are we not meant to be offering ongoing support as well as welcoming newbies ? Just a thought or 3, if someone is posting in recovery they are looking for support. I'd be quite happy to offer ongoing support to these people.
